About the role.
McCain Foods Canada is seeking a General Operator to join the team at the Grand Falls Plant on a 6-month temporary contract. This role plays a key part in supporting plant operations by ensuring safe, efficient production processes while maintaining quality and compliance standards. The General Operator will work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to equipment operation, material handling, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role operates on the following shift: 4 days on (2 day shifts and 2 night shifts) followed by 4 days off.
What you’ll be doing.
Ensure the safety of yourself and your co-workers at all times
Perform material handling, including lifting and moving 19 kg boxes and bags
Follow changeover policies and production requirements
Support sanitation duties as required
Troubleshoot, adjust, and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance
Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Critical Control Points (CCPs)
Support SQCDPE targets by understanding and contributing to KPI achievement
Follow Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and participate in STEP safety programs
Identify and help resolve production issues in a fast-paced team environment
Participate in team meetings and complete required training and e-learning courses
Perform additional duties as assigned
What you’ll need to be successful.
Ability to work a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with supervisors and production teams
Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
Basic computer skills are an asset
Good mathematical skills with ability to complete production documentation accurately
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and a positive attitude
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, continuously changing environment
Willingness to learn and operate lift trucks (experience is an asset)
Proven commitment to safety with a strong safety record

You’ll be part of the Grand Falls Plant production team, collaborating closely with supervisors and fellow operators to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality operations. The team environment is fast-paced, supportive, and focused on continuous improvement and shared success.

Compensation Package: Starting at $22.24 CAD hourly
