Job Summary
West Kelowna Hockey Centre is looking for a reliable and self-motivated individual to join our team as a part-time Rink Attendant. This hands-on role involves rink operations, facility upkeep, customer service, and occasional support with our youth hockey programs.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, takes initiative, and is committed to keeping the facility safe, clean, and welcoming for our customers.
Duties
- Operate the Zamboni and complete ice resurfacing and maintenance
- Conduct regular facility inspections to identify safety hazards and maintenance needs
- Clean and maintain dressing rooms, washrooms, public areas, and surrounding grounds
- Provide skate-sharpening services and process skate-shop sales
- Monitor facility use and respectfully enforce rink rules and safety guidelines
- Proactively communicate relevant shift updates to team members and management
- Set up and take down equipment for ice bookings, programs, and birthday parties
- Provide occasional on-ice support for Pond Hockey and other youth programs
- Assist with hockey camps and programs based on experience and interest
Qualifications
- Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to skate and access to personal skates are required
- Willingness to learn Zamboni operation, ice maintenance, and skate sharpening
- Able to perform the physical tasks required for rink operations and facility upkeep
- Detail-oriented and able to identify cleanliness, maintenance, and safety concerns
- Regular weekend availability and flexibility to work weekday and evening shifts
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check required
Previous rink, Zamboni, hockey, coaching, or custodial experience is an asset but not required. First Aid certification is also an asset.
Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 25.0 per week
