Who are we
Knowles Centre is a community-based, non-profit social service agency for children, adolescents and young adults facing difficult times in their lives. It began as a home for boys in 1907 and today provides a range of therapeutic and skills-based programs to young people from Manitoba and other communities throughout Canada.
Knowles Centre is made up of a team of 110 full-time, part-time and casual employees. Each day we strive to help young people and their families address past struggles, develop healthier relationships and ways of life, and reach their full potential in the future.
We do this by providing the following programs:
- Healing Homes
- Treatment Foster Care
- SAIL Program
- Day Treatment
- Sexual Abuse Treatment
- Moving Forward Counselling
In addition, we offer or arrange support services that complement our core programs, including:
- Recreation Program
- Camp & Outdoor Education Program
- Access to psychiatric consultation
- Program partnerships with River East Transcona School Division

Onsite Supervisor – FT-Summer Term
(with the potential for a permanent FT position)
Supported Advancement to Independent Living (S.A.I.L)
SAIL helps youth/young adults gain the skills and confidence to be responsible for their own futures by role modeling and teaching essential life skills for independent living.
Duties include (but not limited to):
· Responsible for the security of the apartment buildings, vehicles, and grounds
· Provides additional support in crisis situations
· Fields all calls from various SAIL locations during scheduled shift
· Providing regular supervision and feedback to onsite staff and Facility Workers, ensuring duties are
performed in a timely manner
· Submits monthly facility report
· Conducts annual/bi-annual performance evaluations of onsite and facility workers
· Provides extra support for clients within the apartment blocks and those living in the community
· Interviewing, orienting and training new onsite staff
· Scheduling of onsite staff
· Performs on call duties on a rotational basis
· Coordinates training needs of onsite staff
· Scheduling of all onsite staff
· Training and orienting of new hires
· Covers the duties of onsite staff when needed
Qualifications:
- Post secondary degree is required, however, other education combined with relevant supervisory
experience may be considered
· Experience working in an independent living program is an asset
· Valid MB driver’s license and reliable car
· Strong interest in working with high needs, at-risk youth
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to schedule and prioritize work
· Excellent communication skills
· Experience working with clients with behavioral and emotional difficulties
· Valid in First Aid/CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training, ASIST training
· Supervisory experience is considered an asset
Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, 4pm - midnight
