Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our team in Steinbach, Manitoba. This role is ideal for an individual looking to grow their accounting career while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. The Junior Accountant will support day-to-day accounting functions and work closely with senior accounting staff to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across financial processes. This position will have a strong focus on accounting for property developments, as well as corporate and hotel operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner
- Post journal entries and maintain general ledger records
- Assist with bank and account reconciliations
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports and supporting schedules across multiple business units
- Contribute to month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation within accounting systems
- Assist with audit preparation, including gathering required documentation
- Respond to routine accounting inquiries from internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with operations teams to provide financial support
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accounting processes
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and applicable accounting standards
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset
- Foundational accounting knowledge, including bookkeeping, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Experience supporting financial reporting and month-end/year-end processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Sage Intacct and Yardi considered assets)
- Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Experience in real estate, property management, construction, or hospitality is an asset
- Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and ethical accounting practices

Pay: $23.00-$27.00 per hour
