Staff Plus is currently hiring an Extruder Operator for one of our clients in Brampton, ON. We are seeking a reliable and experienced individual with a background in plastic extrusion or plastic manufacturing. Pay Rate-
- Weekday Day Shift: starting at $24.11/ hour
- Weekday Night Premium: +$1.00/hr
- Weekend Day Premium: +$0.50/hr
- Weekend Night Premium: +$1.50/hr
Job Description:
- Setup & Operation: Prepare and set up extruder machines for production runs, including adjusting machine settings such as temperature, pressure, speed, and die configuration based on material specifications and production requirements.
- Monitoring: Constantly oversee the extrusion process to ensure the material flows smoothly through the die, and adjust settings as necessary to maintain consistency, quality, and proper output.
- Quality Control: Regularly inspect extruded products to ensure they meet quality standards, specifications, and tolerances. This includes checking dimensions, surface appearance, and strength of materials.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of the extruder machines. This includes checking for wear and tear, replacing parts, and ensuring all systems function properly to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Troubleshooting: Identify issues such as material blockages, equipment malfunctions, or inconsistencies in the extrusion process and make adjustments or repairs as needed.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed production logs, machine performance records, and documentation on raw materials used, maintenance performed, and any process deviations.
- Material Knowledge: Familiarity with different materials used in the extrusion process, such as various plastics (PVC, polyethylene), metals, and food ingredients, and how they behave under different processing conditions.
- Machine Settings: Understanding of how to adjust machine parameters such as screw speed, barrel temperature, and die design to optimize product quality.
- Tolerance: Must be comfortable with light odors associated with adhesives or chemicals used in the extrusion process.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends depending on shift you are scheduled for, and handle repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards.
- Physical ability to lift between 30-50 pounds and stand for long periods.
Requirements:
- 2 years+ experience working in a warehouse setting
- Must have CSA safety shoes
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis at times
