Position Summary:
Oversee the sanitation of food contact, non-food contact and environmental surface. Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System and communicate information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the sanitation system. In addition, this person will support the Sanitation Supervisor by motivating and leading Sanitation Crew.
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must have prior general experience working successfully in both a team environment and independently
- A minimum of one year experience in a food manufacturing or sanitation environment required
- Experience working with chemicals considered an asset
- WHMIS 2015 (GHS), HACCP and first aid training considered an asset
- Able to adapt to changes and open to learning new ways to get things done more efficiently and effectively
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and written in English
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others as part of a team, exhibiting politeness, respect, and courtesy in communication and daily interaction
- Basic knowledge of computer and able to learn in-house systems
- Must be organized and able to use judgement and make decisions
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the pre-cleaning jobs to the crew on the floor. Coordinate with the crew and help as needed
- Assist the supervisor in overseeing the day-to-day jobs and to address the deviations and extra jobs required to be done by QC and SQFP
- Assist the supervisor in reporting any equipment maintenance issues, implementing SOP’s and other safety issues
- Ensure sanitation checklists are properly signed and maintained, record any sanitation crew hours in production help
- Promote a positive and professional team environment – be open to feedback and continuous improvement
- Welcome new team members. Create a positive environment for new hires to learn in
- Train the new hires or oversee their training with an experienced employee, assist in scheduling and job rotation of employees when required.
- Maintain safety, attendance, and HACCP information for furtherance to Sanitation Supervisor
- Ensure all food safety issues are communicated to SQFP and Sanitation Supervisor
- Maintain proper inventory of cleaning chemicals
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of staff
- Ensure employees adhere to company policies and procedures
- Complete all HACCP forms as required
- Ensure that all employees are trained properly, and training documentation is signed
- Ensure the Sanitation team is always working effectively and efficiently
- Report employee concerns in a timely manner to Sanitation Supervisor
- Update Sanitation Supervisor on any procedural changes and record in sanitation procedure binder
- Bring forth innovative ideas and suggestions to improve sanitation and/ or the work environment
- Assist co-workers where and when needed
- All other duties assigned by the Sanitation Supervisor
Quality/Food Safety Program
- Train employees who are responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and documenting quality and food safety issues on the following items:
- The task that needs to be completed
- The frequency at which it needs to be completed
- What a deviation is
- What to do in the event of a deviation
- Corrective actions to be taken
- Proper documentation to be completed
- Utilize the monitoring record, procedures, and deviation records. Ensure proper completion of all records generated
Verify that the following verification documents are completed at the required frequencies:
- Daily pre-operations check after QC
- Weekly sanitation checklist
- Monthly sanitation checklist
- Yearly master sanitation schedule
- Review of sanitation manual
Perform all general sanitation duties as per Sanitation Program
Perform other duties as assigned
