The Opportunity
Arjae Design Solutions Ltd. is seeking a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician to join our fabrication shop team. This role is hands-on and focuses on the installation, calibration, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems for oil & gas and industrial fabrication projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring high-quality builds, maintaining safety standards, and supporting project timelines within a dynamic shop environment. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced shop environment and takes pride in high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, wire, and terminate instrumentation devices and control panels in a fabrication shop setting
- Perform calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments
- Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical drawings
- Assemble and integrate instrumentation systems for skids and modular packages
- Conduct quality checks and ensure installations meet project specifications and applicable codes/standards
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning activities
- Work collaboratively with engineering, fabrication, and project teams
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Ensure accurate documentation of work performed
Requirements
Education/Training
- Certified Journeyman Instrumentation Technician (Red Seal preferred)
- Valid safety certifications (e.g., CSTS, H2S Alive, First Aid) considered an asset
- Strong understanding of industry standards and codes (e.g., CSA, ISA)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and drawings
- Ability to Measure, bend, route, and install SS tubing
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in instrumentation, preferably within a fabrication shop or oil & gas environment
- Experience working with modular/skid-mounted systems is highly desirable
- Proficiency in instrument calibration, loop checks, and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with PLCs, control systems, and automation components is an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

- This position is based in our office in Nisku, Alberta; preference will be given to candidates based in the Edmonton area
- Position will be working with a team of professionals and training in-house will be provided
