Northern Gateway Public Schools invites applications for a Full-time Teaching position (1.0 FTE) at Hilltop High School, Whitecourt, Alberta.
Successful candidate responsibilities:
- The Academic Support Teacher works closely with students who require additional assistance to achieve academic success. You will collaborate with classroom teachers, educational assistants, and student services to design and deliver individualized and small-group support across subject areas primarily in the Math and Science departments.
The successful candidate must:

have a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

Provide individualized and small-group academic support to students

Support diverse learners in academic level courses
-
Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly

Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and support staff

Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff

Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment

have successful Junior/Senior High school teaching experience

have effective organizational and classroom management skills

have classroom practice that is focused on:
-
a student-centered approach to responsive instruction that ensures student engagement and understanding, and nurtures teacher-student relationships
o the application of a variety of technologies to support learning for all students
o assessment for/of learning that will support students in their areas of needed growth and achievement
o the domains of the NGPS Quality Learning Environment (QLE)
o collegial collaboration, numeracy programming, support and intervention
o diversity and broadening students' knowledge of First Nation, Metis and Inuit
o strong and effective communication with parents and the community
