About Proforma Engineering
ProForma Engineering delivers practical, reliable engineering solutions for industrial projects. We are looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer who brings strong technical fundamentals, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to project delivery.
This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to take ownership of meaningful work, continue building technical depth under senior mentorship, and contribute to a team that values quality, accountability, and practical problem-solving.
The Role
As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical systems and solutions for industrial projects from concept through construction support. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, support project execution, and help ensure designs are safe, efficient, code-compliant, and practical to construct, operate, and maintain.
You will also have opportunities to mentor junior team members while continuing to grow your own technical and professional capabilities.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documents for industrial projects.
- Deliver accurate, code-compliant engineering work with a strong focus on safety, quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Identify project risks early and help develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Support project delivery by managing priorities, meeting deadlines, and communicating progress proactively.
- Provide construction-phase support, including responding to RFIs, reviewing field conditions, and resolving site issues.
- Collaborate with internal disciplines, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and technical problem-solving discussions.
- Use engineering tools such as CAD software, process modeling, hydraulic calculations, piping design software, and BIM/modelling platforms as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and efficient project execution.
- Support and share knowledge with junior team members.
What We’re Looking For
- P.Eng. designation, or eligibility for registration, in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Several years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, ideally in industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, applicable codes, and engineering standards.
- Experience preparing calculations, reports, specifications, drawings, and other technical deliverables.
- Experience with industrial systems such as piping, pumping systems, material handling equipment, HVAC systems, process equipment, or similar mechanical infrastructure.
- Ability to balance multiple assignments and work effectively in a project environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Practical problem-solving ability and sound engineering judgment.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with mechanical design and analysis software; experience with MicroStation, Plant3D, AutoCAD and PipeFLO is an asset.
- Commitment to professional integrity, accountability, and continuous learning.
What Will Help You Succeed
- You take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments.
- You pay attention to detail and produce high-quality deliverables.
- You stay composed under pressure and adapt well to changing priorities.
- You are receptive to feedback and interested in ongoing development.
- You communicate clearly and work well with others.
- You bring a practical mindset and focus on solutions that work in the real world.
Why Join Proforma Engineering
- Meaningful work on industrial projects with real impact.
- Opportunities for technical growth and mentorship.
- A collaborative team environment with strong professional standards.
- Exposure to multidisciplinary project work.
- The ability to contribute ideas, improve processes, and grow your career.
