Job Summary
Holy Family Home is seeking a reliable and organized Materials Handler to join our Housekeeping & Linen Services team. The Materials Handler is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, and distributing supplies and materials throughout Holy Family Home, the Seniors' Tower, and the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate (SSMI).
This role supports our mission by helping ensure departments receive the supplies they need while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming deliveries to ensure accuracy against purchase orders.
- Accept or reject shipments based on quality and order requirements.
- Deliver supplies and materials to the appropriate departments throughout the facility.
- Direct Nutrition & Food Services (NFS) deliveries to designated storage areas.
- Organize and prepare materials for return or vendor pickup.
- Assist departments with material handling and related requests as required.
- Perform floor care duties, including:
- Vacuuming
- Spot cleaning
- Carpet shampooing/extraction
- Dry and wet mopping
- Floor stripping and waxing
- Remove and transport garbage, recycling, soiled linen, and resident personal laundry.
- Operate materials handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow all departmental policies, infection prevention practices, WHMIS standards, and workplace safety procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to read and interpret invoices, purchase orders, and departmental procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Knowledge of safe material handling practices.
- Knowledge of Infection Prevention & Control procedures and WHMIS.
- Ability to safely operate materials handling equipment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
