ROLE SUMMARY
The Assistant Unit Head’s role responsible is to assist the Unit Head to oversee the daily functions of their assigned unit. The Assistant Unit Head is responsible for the supervision and safety of their staff and campers. They are responsible for being aware of all concerns, challenges, or situations that may arise within the unit on a daily basis and report to the Unit Head. The Assistant Unit Head acts as a role model to all campers and staff and is a positive representative of Centre Camp.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Leadership & Staff Support
- Assist the Unit Head in preparing counselors for pre-camp training and summer readiness.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and weekly check-ins with counselors.
- Help document staff progress, performance, and unit observations.
- Participate in camp-wide programming, special events, and theme days.
- Receive mentorship and apply feedback to grow in the role.
- Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, respect, and camp values.
Camper & Staff Support
- Collaborate with Unit Head, Camper Care, and Staff Coordinators to support camper and staff needs.
- Assist in reviewing camper and staff requirements (health, behavior, accommodations).
- Help ensure counselors have tools and strategies to support all campers.
- Support proactive solutions to maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive unit culture.
- Promote teamwork and a supportive, enthusiastic environment.
- Join camper groups as needed for coverage or extra support.
Communication & Family Relations
- Build warm, professional relationships with campers, staff, and families.
- Maintain clear, ongoing communication with unit staff to reinforce expectations and updates.

Contract length: 10 weeks
Pay: $2,000.00-$2,400.00 per month
