6-Month Contract with Potential Extension
Curaga Healthcare Group is recruiting an Echocardiographer for a hospital-based opportunity in Northwestern Ontario. This position offers a stable Monday-to-Friday schedule with no regular on-call, weekend, or overtime requirements.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary healthcare team and be responsible for coordinating, performing, and evaluating diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations while supporting high-quality patient care in a rural hospital environment.
Assignment Details
- Location: Sioux Lookout, Ontario
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Shift Length: 8-hour shifts
- Contract Length: 6 months with potential for extension

Responsibilities
- Perform echocardiography examinations in accordance with departmental standards and protocols
- Operate and maintain diagnostic cardiac ultrasound equipment safely and effectively
- Perform and interpret M-Mode, 2D Echo, and Doppler studies where qualified
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of examination results
- Adhere to accreditation standards, quality assurance processes, and infection prevention practices
- Participate in preventative maintenance procedures and equipment quality checks
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to support patient care
- Exercise sound clinical judgment and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards at all times
- Promote a safe working environment and comply with all occupational health and safety requirements
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved or accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography or Adult Echocardiography program preferred
- Willingness to complete required training to become a licensed Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer/Adult Echocardiographer
- Active registration with Sonography Canada and CMRITO considered an asset
- Graduate of a two-year health professions diploma or a Bachelor's/Master's degree in a registered health profession, including six credit hours in Human Anatomy and Physiology and six additional health-related credits
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- Minimum of three (3) months of previous experience working directly with clients in a healthcare setting preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong computer, keyboarding, and documentation skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
