This full-time position is based at Downey’s Home Hardware at 1106 Cleveland Avenue, Riverview, NB.
Job Description:
The Boom Truck Driver is responsible for delivering products and/or supplies to customers, vendors, jobsites, or other corporate locations. Duties include operating freight handling equipment, maintenance and operation of company vehicles, verification of administrative paperwork, and working with the public at large. The Boom Truck Driver must safely perform all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to avoid adverse impact on the level of customer.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver materials to private homes and construction sites safely.
- Work in the yard and in the store actively helping customers.
- Prepare trucks for loading and assist warehouse staff as required.
- Ensure proper vehicle maintenance and safety.
- Maintain contact with dispatch and work to resolve any issues.
- Verify load security and accuracy.
- Report defects, violations, accidents, or injuries
- Act professionally always
- Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Skills and Qualifications:
o Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, management, other employees, in person, by telephone, or by FM radio.
o Proven work experience as a Boom Truck Driver
- Valid driver’s license class 3 or 1
- Clean Drivers Abstract – Will reimburse upon hire.
- Hydraulic Experience
- Air Brakes Endorsement
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, fast-paced, and dynamic workplace.
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Able to operate standard transmission.
- Safety mindset
- High attention to detail
o Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends, evening, and holidays.
o Must be able to visually verify content of shipments.
o High School graduation or equivalent
o Plumbing and Electrical knowledge or experience
o Experience in the home improvement industry is advantageous.
o Exceptional customer service skills
o Able to handle physical work.
o Functional knowledge of merchandising, operations, and retail management
o Computer experience/technical aptitude
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
o Good communication skills
o Team player
o Attention to detail.
o Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
