About the Role
In this full-time role, you will be responsible for performing blood and specimen collections with accuracy and care, serving patients of all ages in a professional community laboratory setting. This position calls for an individual who takes pride in their technical abilities, maintains composure in a fast-paced environment, and understands the importance of the phlebotomist's role as the first point of contact in the diagnostic process. You will collaborate with laboratory and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient flow, accurate documentation, and adherence to all applicable health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct venipuncture and capillary collections across all patient demographics
- Process, label, and prepare specimens in accordance with laboratory standards
- Confirm patient identification and match requisitions accurately
- Uphold infection prevention protocols and maintain a sterile work environment
- Support efficient patient flow and contribute to a positive clinic atmosphere
- Complete all required documentation accurately and promptly
Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Assistance from a recognized Canadian institution
- CSMLS registration or eligibility preferred
- 1+ year of phlebotomy experience an asset; recent graduates encouraged to apply
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Professional demeanor with strong verbal communication skills
