Job Overview: The Maintenance Supervisor assumes the role of a technical leader and has overall responsibility for ensuring timely and quality repair of equipment and plant machinery to minimize downtime for safe and efficient operation. The role takes initiatives to ensure operations are in compliance with safety standards and environmental practices.
This position is in person
Afternoon shift from 2:00 pm - 10:30 am flexibility to work weekends as required to meeting production and maintenance needs.
Annual Pay CAD 90,000 + Overtime
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Direct and lead maintenance staff in everyday scheduling, preventative maintenance, repair of all production equipment and resolve equipment related issues.
· Maintain equipment and parts inventory using available resources to continuously minimize downtime and organize Maintenance Workshop.
· Directs workers, or assists in diagnosing malfunctions in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
· Interprets company policies to workers and enforces OHSA and company safety regulations.
· Schedule and supervise equipment repairs, overhauls, and rebuilding to ensure that it is fully operational and safe to operate and within schedule requirements.
· Monitor and report on the site’s environmental conditions and practices and recommend actions for improvements and conformity to the Manager.
- Coordinates phases of assigned plant projects to ensure timely completion and cost effectiveness.
Health and Safety:
· Ensure staff are well trained in health and safety standards and proper environmental practices within the plant and the Maintenance Department.
· Ensure employees are wearing appropriate PPE and H&S obligations are being met under the OHSA Act.
- Ensure lock out tag out procedures are being followed, proper guards are in place, etc.
Performance Management:
· Performance management for employees.
· Implement or ensure regular Performance reviews are completed.
· Review, investigate and manage performance reviews including assisting with Performance improvement plans.
- Review and advise on disciplinary matters including terminations using outside counsel if necessary.
Other duties may include:
· Some PLC overview and troubleshooting.
All other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES AND QUALICATIONS:
· 5-7 years of direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
· A Millwright or Electrician licensed to practice in Ontario or have an Engineering degree/diploma is required.
· PLC Certification would be an asset.
· PLC knowledge and experience at minimum.
· Experience in food manufacturing is preferred.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
· Must be proactive and self-motivated with the ability to lead others.
· Proven trades experience in technical problem-solving and decision-making.
· Must be willing to pursue additional certification/licenses.
· The willingness to adapt to a dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
· Knowledge of Government regulations as they apply to OHSA.
· Knowledge of GMPs and HACCP.
· Familiarity with automated process/packaging technology an asset
· Experience working in a computerized preventative maintenance program an asset.
· A demonstrated decision-maker with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
· A demonstrated leader with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills who easily interacts with others and is adept to leading and motivating a team.
