Our client, located in Leamington, Ontario is a busy retail food and catering business committed to providing high-quality products and exceptional customer service. We are seeking a reliable and energetic Kitchen Helper / Customer Service Associate to support our kitchen operations and assist customers at our retail counter. This position combines food preparation and kitchen support duties with front-line customer service responsibilities. The successful candidate will help maintain a clean and efficient kitchen while providing friendly and professional service to customers. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry, some experience in serving or food handling, and a strong work ethic. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills in a fast-paced retail environment while contributing to a positive experience for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly to ensure timely service
- Support kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks and food handling
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and retail area in accordance with food safety standards
- Serve customers efficiently and courteously at the counter
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and process customer transactions.
- Package and prepare customer orders for pickup.
- Handle food safely, including proper storage, sanitation, and hygiene practices
- Restock supplies and ensure all necessary ingredients and utensils are available for service
- Follow health and safety guidelines to prevent contamination and ensure a safe environment for staff and guests.
Skills
- Experience in serving or food service roles preferred, especially in a food industry settings
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and meal assembly
- Strong understanding of food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good communication skills and teamwork-oriented attitude
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation practices
- Flexibility to adapt to various tasks within the restaurant setting
