About Us
Out & About Cannabis is located in Riverside South, opening our second location (also in Riverside South) in mid-June 2026. We're independent, owner-operated and serious about our talented retail team. We not only invest in building great Budtenders, Keyholders and Managers, but in up-skilling business-savvy people.
We’re a fun, busy atmosphere of cannabis, creativity, business transparency and personal accountability. The team has built a culture of die-hard commitment to one another, to customers and to rigorous processes, standards, and productivity.
Working here requires 100% openness to and embracing ways that WILL be different to anything you’ve experienced before.
We're looking for: folks who are thorough, reliable, can work 3+ shifts a week - including weekends, and who live max 25 minutes away (to quickly jump-in if extra help is needed).
About the Job - highlights of the Budtender role (i.e. requirements):
- Radiate an outgoing, warm, friendly, natural, helpful, generous and welcoming disposition to customers and team members that makes people happy to be at O&A + wanting to return
- Have strong, current personal familiarity with dried flower, pre-rolls, vaporizers and the broader inhalable cannabis category, including common accessories and consumption methods... and comfort speaking naturally and experience-first about each
- Educate customers about cannabis and how to consume responsibly
- Help customers choose appropriate products based on their needs, preferences, requests and budgets - while building long-term, happy relationships
- Be a strong, competent salesperson with ambition and drive to meet both individual and business goals
- Incorporate knowledge of business performance goals into daily activities
- Troubleshoot customer, retail + POS questions/issues
- Proactively clean, tidy, organize, maintain or improve the store as soon as it’s needed
- Support back-of-house operations (e.g. inventory, marketing, merchandising, supplier relationships, budgeting, H&S) as requested
- Be actively involved in supporting team product knowledge
- Take on and be responsible for special projects as assigned
- Always be active and working “on” the store if there are no customers “in” the store (this is not the kind of job where work stops or homework happens between customers)
- Maintain a high awareness of the store’s dynamic menu and contributing actively to the team’s learning of our products too
- Proactively learn new products, trends and developments in the cannabis industry at large
- Be comfortable reading: about products, O&A processes, company updates and more
Keyholder
Highlights of the Keyholder role include the Budtender role, plus:
- Open/close store, including cashing-in and cashing-out
- Often act as the most senior person on duty, making important decisions about customer service, problem-solving, customer inquiries, returns, tricky situations and the regulations that govern our beloved controlled substance… all while maintaining grace, tact, kindness and professionalism
- Always be active and keep the rest of the team active/progressing their responsibilities – we’re a busy store there’s no “downtime” in between customers
