We represent trusted product lines including Kubota, Stihl, Husqvarna, and other equipment brands that support homeowners, acreage owners, contractors, municipalities, landscapers, and commercial customers throughout the region.
We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable Equipment Sales Consultant to join our Creston team and support our West Kootenay Territory. This is an In Person Role that requires both office time and travel time.
Position Overview
The Equipment Sales Representative will assist customers throughout the West Kootenay, including Nelson, Castlegar, Trail, Salmo, Grand Forks, Slocan, Nakusp and surrounding communities.
This position is about more than generating leads or closing sales. A significant part of the role involves helping potential customers understand their equipment options and providing the information they need to make an informed purchasing decision.
The successful applicant will work with farmers, contractors, acreage owners, municipalities, golf courses, landscaping businesses and residential customers to understand their needs and recommend suitable equipment, attachments and financing options.
We are interested in applicants with direct equipment-sales experience, but we will also consider candidates with strong industry knowledge and customer relationships, including farm managers, agricultural operators, construction professionals and others who understand how equipment is selected, purchased and used. Computer and Math Skills are a must.
Primary Responsibilities
- Respond to customer inquiries by phone, email and in person
- Ask effective questions to understand the customer’s property, operation, workload and equipment requirements
- Explain product differences, capabilities, limitations and available options
- Recommend equipment based on the customer’s intended use and budget
- Calculate and create quotes that may include: selling prices, trade differences, taxes, deposits and financing scenarios
- Explain financing programs, warranties and protection plans
- Write professional customer emails and maintain timely communication
- Follow up on inquiries, quotations and prospective sales
- Develop new equipment-sales opportunities throughout the West Kootenay
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing Kemlee Equipment customers
- Prepare purchase agreements and other sales documentation
- Arrange and conduct product demonstrations
- Evaluate trade-in equipment and gather the information required for management approval
- Complete customer Walk arounds - to ensure customers understand the safe operation and basic maintenance of their equipment
- Attend trade shows, agricultural events, community events and dealership promotions
- Represent Kemlee Equipment professionally throughout the territory
Computer and Administrative Requirements
This position requires regular and confident use of computers and dealership software.
The successful applicant must be comfortable:
- Learning and using dealership-management and customer-management software
- Preparing quotations and sales documents electronically
- Using email professionally throughout the workday
- Working with Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF or similar programs
- Entering and maintaining accurate customer and sales information
- Researching equipment specifications and product information online
- Reviewing financing programs and calculating payment options
- Working with percentages, margins, trade differences and basic sales calculations
- Managing electronic files, photographs and customer documents
- Learning new computer programs and manufacturer systems
Accuracy is important. Equipment configurations, pricing, financing information and customer documents must be prepared carefully and reviewed before being presented.
Customer Service Expectations
This is a highly customer-facing position. Many equipment purchases involve multiple conversations over several days, weeks or months.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable developing new business but also understands that good sales results come from providing useful information, building accurate quotes and earning customer trust.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software
- Professional written communication and email skills
- Comfort working with numbers, percentages and basic sales calculations
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail
- Sales, customer-service, business-development or relevant industry experience
- Ability to understand customer operations and recommend suitable equipment
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Ability to manage multiple customers, quotations and deadlines
- Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record
- Ability to provide a satisfactory current driver’s abstract
- Comfortable travelling regularly throughout the West Kootenay
- Willingness to work occasional Saturdays, evenings and customer events
- Ability to safely operate and demonstrate equipment
- Ability to work independently while cooperating with Sales, Parts, Service and administration staff
Preferred Experience
Applicants with experience in one or more of the following areas will be given preference:
- Agricultural, construction or heavy-equipment sales
- Tractor, implement, attachment or trailer sales
- Farm management or agricultural operations
- Farm ownership or responsibility for equipment purchasing
- Construction, excavation or landscaping management
- Golf-course or grounds-maintenance management
- Municipal, public works or fleet operations
- Automotive, powersports or commercial-vehicle sales
- Equipment rental or dealership operations
- Equipment financing or commercial account management
- Operating agricultural or construction equipment
- Managing customer accounts or a geographic sales territory
Previous equipment-sales experience is preferred but is not the only path into this position. An Industry professional with strong computer, communication and customer-service skills may also be a strong candidate.
Territory and Schedule
This is a full-time, permanent position with regular travel throughout the West Kootenay.
The normal schedule will primarily be Monday through Friday, with participation in a rotating Saturday schedule. Occasional evening appointments, early departures, overnight travel or weekend events may be required.
The successful applicant will be expected to organize customer visits, quotations, follow-up and territory activity while remaining available to support dealership operations.
Compensation
Kemlee Equipment offers a structured compensation plan intended to provide income stability while rewarding successful territory and customer development.
- Expected total annual compensation of approximately $46,500–$100,000
- Initial guaranteed compensation during the territory-development and training period
- Additional performance-based earning opportunities
- Compensation will reflect the successful applicant’s experience, qualifications and demonstrated sales performance

The final compensation structure may include salary, commission, performance bonuses or a combination of these components.
The advertised compensation range represents expected total annual earnings. Actual earnings will depend on the final compensation structure and the employee’s performance.

Reporting Structure
The Equipment Sales Representative will report to Kemlee Equipment’s Sales Management team.
