About MTLI Group
MTLI Group is a fast-growing North American provider of turnkey warehouse racking, automation, mezzanines, and facility projects, along with commercial moving and construction services.
We design, install, relocate, and decommission complex systems for major brands across Canada and the USA. Our teams handle everything from selective racking and pushback systems to conveyors, ASRS, and mezzanines.
We are looking for a field-first Project Manager to help lead projects in our Warehouse Automation & Racking division.
Role Overview
As a Project Manager – Warehouse Automation & Racking, you will own the planning, execution, and delivery of racking and automation projects from award to closeout.
This is not a pure “office PM” role. We need someone who is:
- Comfortable on site, in steel-toed boots, working with supervisors and crews
- Able to own schedule, budget, quality, safety, and client communication
- Strong enough to push back when timelines or scope are unrealistic
- Obsessed with setting the field up to win
You’ll work closely with operations, field supervisors, subcontractors, clients, and vendors to make sure projects are delivered safely, on time, and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling
- Build and manage project schedules from mobilisation to turnover
- Plan crew size, shift patterns, and equipment needs based on scope and site conditions
- Run 1–3 week look-ahead plans and adjust based on real-time site feedback
- Coordinate with other trades (sprinklers, electrical, GC, flooring, etc.)
Field-First Project Management
- Spend regular time on site to verify progress, spot issues early, and support supervisors
- Ensure crews have clear scope, drawings, materials, access, and equipment before starting work
- Remove roadblocks for the field (access issues, blocked aisles, missing info, conflicting trades)
- Balance speed, safety, and quality – not just “get it done”
Budget, Margin & Change Management
- Track budget vs actual for labour, rentals, materials, and subcontractors
- Identify scope creep early and drive RFIs and change orders instead of giving away free work
- Support estimating and sales with feedback and lessons learned
- Protect and improve project gross margin
Safety & Quality
- Ensure only qualified and certified workers perform high-risk tasks (lifts, work at height, etc.)
- Support and enforce toolbox talks, JHAs, and site safety rules
- Hold a high standard for install quality and reduce rework/call-backs through planning
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Lead project meetings and weekly updates with clients/GCs
- Communicate progress, risks, delays, and recovery plans clearly and early
- Maintain project documentation: RFIs, change orders, site instructions, delay notices, photos
- Build strong, long-term relationships with clients through consistent delivery
Project Closeout
- Oversee testing, inspections, and any deficiency work
- Ensure as-builts, manuals, and closeout documentation are completed
- Capture lessons learned and feed them back into MTLI’s processes
Qualifications
- 3+ years of project management experience in one or more of:
- Warehouse racking / material handling
- Warehouse automation (conveyors, sorters, ASRS, etc.)
- Industrial construction / fit-outs
- Strong ability to read and interpret drawings (layouts, elevations, racking plans)
- Proven experience managing field crews and subcontractors on active job sites
- Experience with budgets, job costing, and change orders
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-change environment
- Strong communication skills (email, meetings, reports) and solid documentation habits
- Proficient with basic tools: Excel/Sheets, project management or scheduling software
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to sites (GTA + Canada/USA as needed)
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
Who Will Succeed in This Role
You’ll be a great fit if you:
- Naturally take a field-first attitude – the site is the truth, the office is support
- Like being in the middle of the action, solving problems with crews and supervisors
- Take ownership of timelines, quality, and financial performance, not just paperwork
- Can stay calm when things change and make clear decisions under pressure
- Want to grow with a company that is scaling across North America
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,621.74-$105,817.83 per year
