The Opportunity
Reporting to the Seawater Director, the Feed Manager will ensure coordination of feed forecasting, ordering, inventory and quality control for all seawater sites. They work directly with feed companies and site managers to ensure feed is delivered properly and on time to all barges. The Feed Manager is also responsible for managing the feeders to ensure that the feed division of Seawater runs smoothly and that the feed strategy is accurately implemented on all sites.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise and provide performance management for a team Aquaculture Technician – Feeders.
· Coordination and assignment of daily tasks.
· Manage logistics of feed planning, deliveries and invoicing.
· Coordination with sites for feed reception.
· Track KPI’s for fish and report variances.
· Liaise with feed provider to help plan feed projections.
· Tracks pricing and analyzes invoicing to ensure feed costs are accurate.
· Monitor and control costs associated with feed, including the tracking of actuals against the projections and biological KPIs such as FCR and SGR.
· Manages the feed budget and ensure cost effective decision making.
· Assessing feed performance during critical periods, like when switching feed sizes or prior to harvest.
· Assist biological controller in sending out accurate feed projections to the feed supplier.
· Work with Seawater Director to come up with key goals and objectives for the coming year.
· Critically analyze the previous year’s objectives and determine any major wins or losses for the department. In terms of losses, identify core reasons for the miss and how improvements could be made for the following year.
· Follow safe working practices and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
· Ensure full adherence to and compliance with all procedures and policies established by the Cermaq.
· Understand and adhere to government regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Workplace NL and company biosecurity rules and practices.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications
· Bachelor of Science or related degree/diploma in Aquaculture, Environmental Science or Business.
· Supervisory experience, preferably in the Aquaculture industry.
· Minimum of 5 years aquaculture experience.
