JOB SUMMARY
We are looing for a skilled Journeyman Carpenter to join our mountain operations team and help with the general maintenance and expansion of our resort. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Construct, repair, and maintain resort buildings, lift stations, decks, fences, and other infrastructure
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute projects
- Perform framing, finishing, drywall installation, and cabinetry work as needed
- Participate in seasonal projects such as deck building, trail signage installation, and chalet upgrades
- Support with seasonal setup and takedown of ski hill infrastructure (e.g., signage, fencing, lift components)
- Collaborate with other trades and departments on multi-disciplinary projects
- Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Conduct seasonal inspections and repairs to ensure structures meet safety and operational standards
- Assist with snow load management and structural integrity checks during winter months
- Support emergency repairs and respond to urgent maintenance requests
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
- Mentor apprentices or helpers when assigned
- Other duties as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position reports to the Manager, Facilities Maintenance and does not require any direct supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
- Red Seal or equivalent Journeyman Carpenter certification
- Minimum of 3 years related experience required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and other specifications and technical information
- Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction best practices
- Able to work outside in all weather conditions
- Good communication skills, self-motivated, mature, dependable and able to work well with others in a team environment
- Willing and able to work shift work, including weekends
- Valid driver’s license; ability to operate resort vehicles and equipment is an asset
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$40.18 to $45.65/hour
