The Role
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with a PEng designation and proven experience designing solar projects of all scales in the Canadian market—from residential rooftops to complex commercial and utility-scale systems.
What You’ll Do
As a Lead Electrical Engineer , you will:
- Perform and review the design of residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar PV systems from concept through IFC packages
- Produce and review complete engineering design packages, Single-line diagrams, Site layouts and stringing plans, Conduit and wiring layouts, Load calculations, voltage rise/drop calculations, Equipment schedules and bills of material
- Perform system optimization and value engineering to balance performance, cost, and constructability
- Work closely with project managers, electricians, and permitting teams to ensure designs are build-ready and approval-ready
- Support interconnection applications and respond to utility or AHJ technical comments
- Provide technical guidance and design review for the engineers and designers in the team
- Identify risks early and proactively resolve design or compliance challenges
Ensure all designs fully comply with:
- Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
- Utility interconnection requirements
- Municipal and AHJ standards across Canada
What You Bring
You are a seasoned solar professional with:
- 3+ years of solar design experience, with direct involvement in Canadian projects (Preferred)
- Registered as a PEng (Professional Engineer) with APEGA or similar associations
- Demonstrated experience designing all scales of solar (Residential, Commercial / industrial and Large ground-mount or utility-scale systems)
- Strong, practical knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and how it applies in real-world installations
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high design quality
- Clear communication skills and confidence working with internal teams, utilities, and AHJs
Solid understanding of:
- Electrical Engineering Foundation and Power Generation
- PV System Architecture and Considerations
- Grounding and bonding
- Overcurrent protection
- Utility interconnection and service limitations
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $140,000.00-$160,000.00 per year
