Full job description

Job Title: Performance Coach / Personal Trainer – Youth Athlete Development
Location: Nisku, AB
Facility: AK Performance

Position Overview:
AK Performance is looking for a motivated and knowledgeable Performance Coach to join our team. We are seeking someone with a strong background in athletic development who is also interested in growing a personal training clientele. This role combines team-based athlete training with opportunities for one-on-one coaching and sales growth within the facility.

The ideal candidate is confident leading teams, passionate about youth development, and driven to build relationships that translate into personal training opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality strength and conditioning programs for youth athletes and teams
Lead team training sessions with energy, structure, and strong coaching presence
Develop sport-specific programs to improve speed, power, strength, and injury resilience
Coach proper movement mechanics and long-term athletic development principles
Create a positive, competitive, and professional training environment
Build relationships with athletes and families to support long-term development

Personal Training & Sales Responsibilities:

Develop and grow a personal training client base within AK Performance
Conduct athlete assessments and consultations to identify individual needs
Convert team athletes and general members into one-on-one or small group training clients
Provide high-level individualized coaching sessions tailored to specific goals
Educate clients on training, recovery, and performance strategies
Contribute to overall revenue growth through personal training and program sales
Collaborate with ownership on client retention strategies and service offerings

Qualifications:

Background in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Strength & Conditioning, or related field (preferred)
Certification such as CSCS, CSEP-CPT, NSCA, or equivalent (asset)
Experience working with youth athletes and/or sports teams
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with confidence in building client relationships
Ability to sell coaching services in a genuine, value-driven way
Strong understanding of strength training, athletic development, and injury prevention
Passion for both coaching and business growth
Reliable, professional, and team-oriented

Assets:

Experience working with hockey or baseball athletes
Previous personal training or sales experience
Knowledge of long-term athlete development (LTAD)
First Aid/CPR certification
Experience with athlete testing and performance tracking

Schedule:
Part-time to start, with opportunity to grow into full-time. Evenings and weekends required due to team and client schedules.

Compensation:

Hourly coaching rate for team sessions
Commission and/or split structure for personal training
Strong opportunity for income growth based on client development and retention
