SENIOR SEXUAL ASSAULT COUNSELLOR (40 hours per week)

Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis (G-W WIC) is a diverse, inclusive, feminist community-based organization providing safety, advocacy, prevention, education and support for women and gender-diverse people impacted by violence.
We are looking for a highly motivated social worker with the skills and abilities to join the Sexual Assault Centre staff team to provide trauma counselling to women and gender-diverse people who have experienced sexual violence.
Responsibilities include:
· Provide trauma-informed, survivor-centred individual counselling, crisis intervention, and emotional support to women and gender-diverse people impacted by sexual violence.
· Plan, develop, and co-facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational support groups, workshops, and post-group debriefing sessions for women and gender-diverse people who have experienced sexual violence, including childhood sexual abuse and recent or historical sexual assault.
· Support clients in navigating the legal, housing, income and child welfare systems.
· Provide accompaniments when available.
· Ensure that cultural interpreters are available when needed.
· Complete risk assessments and assist in developing safety plans with clients.
· Liaise with other G-WWIC programs regarding SAC services and work collaboratively with other program areas.
· Ensure that the administration of the Program is up to date (case notes, evaluations, statistics) in conjunction with the Manager.
· Participate in Team and Clinical meetings.
· Provide supervision, mentorship, and educational support to Master of Social Work (MSW) students and other placement students, fostering the development of trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and ethical clinical practice through reflective supervision, case consultation, and ongoing feedback.
Employment Requirements:
· Minimum of three (3) years’ direct clinical experience providing trauma-informed, survivor-centred counselling, advocacy, and crisis intervention to women and gender-diverse people impacted by sexual violence, and/or gender-based violence.
· Field Instructor Certification (Clinical MSW/BSW Supervision).
· Demonstrated clinical knowledge and specialized training in sexual violence intervention, including childhood sexual abuse, complex trauma, dissociation, human trafficking, and the impacts of interpersonal violence across the lifespan.
· Strong knowledge of trauma theory and evidence-informed therapeutic approaches, including crisis intervention, stabilization, safety planning, and working with concurrent mental health and substance use concerns.
· Excellent organizational, documentation, case management, and administrative skills, with proficiency in electronic documentation systems, Microsoft Office, and other relevant technology platforms.
· Thorough knowledge of community resources, systems navigation, and interdisciplinary collaboration within violence against women, mental health, health care, justice, and social service sectors, including knowledge of current legislation.
· Exceptional mediation, crisis management and conflict resolution sills.
· Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check as a condition of employment, with the ability to maintain clearance throughout employment.
This position is part of the Collective Agreement of CUPE Local 4393.
