Job Summary:

The Baggage Lead team will work closely with our Airline Partners, Duty Managers, Supervisors, Crew Chiefs, and Agents to ensure our operational performance metrics are met. There is a strong emphasis on safety, operational excellence, MBR, guest experience, and employee engagement.

Job Duties:

Manage daily allocation of manpower in the bagrooms to ensure smooth operation.

Assign GSE to bagroom drivers and ensure proper charging.

Coach and mentor employees, while enforces Company policies and procedures.

Write daily shift notes, record agent conversations related to any work-related incidents.

Investigate and report any missed bags.

Collaborate with our airline partners on anything baggage-related.

Ensure Pre-Operational Inspections for all equipment used during the shift are completed.

Enforced safety policy compliance and proper PPE in the bag room.

Review assigned ULDs, and complete uplift requests as required.

Conduct quality inspections.

Supports the operation in the bagroom.

Responsible for ensuring direction is provided with challenges impacting baggage, baggage scanning, NCB, AVI, USCBP recalls, CBSA recalls, Missed Baggage Ratio.

Participate in staff briefings with the bagroom teams at the start of every shift, outlining any challenges and opportunities.

Communicate operational performance feedback to the airline's management team and provide solutions to facilitate effective solutions.

Qualifications:

High School diploma, GED or equivalent education.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must be able to obtain a fully cleared Restricted Area Identification Card.

Must be able to obtain a YYC D/A AVOP.

Possess a valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

One + year of experience in aviation ground operations.

Strong understanding of aviation regulations and safety standards.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.

Physical requirements:

Must be able to frequently lift, greater than 70lbs and constantly lift up to 70 lbs; Constantly push, pull up to 70 lbs; and constantly walk, stand, reach above shoulder, climb, crawl, stoop, squat, kneel, & bend.

Working conditions:

Must be able to work in rotating shifts and hours, nights, weekends and holidays, overtime.

Must be able and open to work in outside weather conditions which may include severe seasonal elements.
