Full job description

Collective Waste Solutions is hiring a full-time, permanent Class 1 Driver/Operator for our Calgary operations. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient collection of residential and commercial waste using waste collection vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Execution
Assigned pick-ups and deliveries are executed safely, efficiently, with professional communication and behaviour consistent with company’s values.

Safety

Safety procedures are continually followed to target zero incidents/lost time injuries/property damages.
Daily safety meetings with Field Employees to ensure fit for duty and understand the safety hazards / risks of the work assigned.
Maintains valid safety tickets or courses as required by Company policy.
Safety protocols, Field Level Risk assessments, hazard and incident reporting requirements are adhered to as set out by specific client requirements, company policy and procedure.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education

GED preferred.
Class 1Q license is required.
Safety certifications and driving certifications as required by site.

Experience

Operating experience sufficient to confidently work all equipment and operating processes.
Working with others to reinforce behaviors and outcomes.
Working effectively with people holding different views, values, and habits.

Knowledge/Skills

Organizational skills required to ensure procedures and processes are maintained effectively.
Being a team player, showing initiative and taking on duties that may not be regularly assigned tasks.
High level of customer service by continually meeting client and corporate expectations.
Company professionalism and reputation are displayed by attire, vehicles and equipment that are clean and well maintained.
General mechanical aptitude by possessing knowledge of trucks and operational equipment.
Knowledge of Waste Management business practices, various waste streams/AER regulations is an asset.
Clear communication and spotting techniques.

CRITICAL BEHAVIORS

Typical Physical Demands

Lifting up to 50 lbs.
Drug and alcohol testing will be conducted.
A clean driver’s abstract is required.
Long hours require the ability to stay focused on operating safely.
May include nights away in the truck, with eligible reimbursement for associated costs

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 50 per week
