Description
The Department of Pediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant, Precision Neurodevelopment Lab. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Provide timely, efficient, and accurate research support to the Precision Neurodevelopment Lab Team. Tasks may include, but are not limited to data entry, data cleaning, data analysis, scientific literature review, scientific writing, ethics application preparation, and various research administrative tasks. This position will have a primary focus on magnetic resonance imaging of children.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Implement research projects related to children and youth with NDDs who have behaviours of concern, under the direction of the Principal Investigator

Perform data entry, data cleaning, and data analysis

Obtain and interpret magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans

Conduct scientific literature reviews and scientific writing

Prepare ethics applications and complete various research administrative task
Work independently while maintaining regular communication with the lab lead, and collaborate with other lab members (students, people with lived experience, and staff)

Qualifications / Requirements:
-
BSc required, MSc preferred
-
Experience working with people who have lived experience of neurodevelopmental disorders required
-
Knowledge in magnetic resonance imaging, particularly children and adolescents, required
-
Experience in research design, documentation and results interpretation, advanced analysis and biostatistics, as well as authoring and reviewing research journal articles

Ability to provide advice and technical assistance to other team members
-
Demonstrated communication, organization, problem solving, and interpersonal skills with professional demeanor
-
Ability to work both independently, and in a team environment
-
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with internal and external team members to foster collaborative research activities
-
Excellent oral and written presentation skills
Ability to analyze complex information efficiently and strategically identify issues and opportunities, and develop recommendations
