UH IP Orthopaedics 9th Flr

Reporting to the Coordinator, the Registered Practical Nurse supports patient centered care in UH I/P Orthopaedics. The Registered Practical Nurse acts as member of the multi-disciplinary team to provide specialized, systematic, and individualized care to patients including wound care, patient education, post-operative follow up and consultation. The Registered Practical Nurse acts as a member of the team to advocate and provide the care for patients and their families.

Regular Part-Time
Rate of Pay: $37.10 per hour - $37.77 per hour

Part-time employees receive a percentage in lieu of vacation and benefits, providing additional compensation on top of regular wages

Hours of work: No guarantee of hours

Part-time employees will have the opportunity to pick up additional shifts based on unit operational needs and availability

Qualifications

Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C) for which you can provide proof upon request
Minimum one year recent experience in a surgical care setting
Previous Orthopaedic experience preferred
Experience in minor procedures using aseptic technique preferred
Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
Proficient keyboarding skills
Demonstrated experience/active participation in patient education/program development
Demonstrated proficiency with processing and transporting specimens for lab testing
Demonstrated knowledge of patient care areas and associated services
Demonstrated excellent assessment skills together with a demonstrated aptitude for patient teaching
Demonstrated thorough understanding and commitment to Patient and Family Centered Care principles and ability to use in practice
Demonstrated ability to recognize own feelings, express them fully and constructively manage own feelings in challenging and emotionally charged situations
Demonstrated ability to express ideas clearly, confidently and directly and work through conflicts and differences in a respectful way
Demonstrated ability to understand the feelings, concerns and needs of other people, demonstrate care and interest towards them and establish and maintain productive relationships
Demonstrated ability to stay effective and resilient when dealing with adverse circumstances and multiple demands
Demonstrated ability to demonstrate an optimistic disposition toward new experiences and change in general
Demonstrated understanding, practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
