“Sales Account Manager - Eastern Canada”
(Technical Sales / Business Development - Oil Analysis & Fluid Reliability Services)
WearCheck is currently seeking a driven, technically experienced Sales Account Manager - Eastern Canada, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This is not an entry-level position — we are looking for a proven B2B technical sales professional with relevant industry credentials and the confidence to engage at the maintenance, reliability, and operations leadership level.
The SAM will be WearCheck’s primary commercial resource in Eastern Canada, protecting and growing existing accounts, developing new business, and promoting our oil analysis, reliability products, digital platforms, and education programs as key differentiators.
1. Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and grow a robust pipeline of new accounts across Eastern Canada, with initial primary focus on Southern Ontario and Southern Quebec.
- Protect, service, and grow existing key accounts, ensuring high customer retention, satisfaction, and growth (e.g., AOM testing, Lubrigard product and service adoption).
- Identify, target, and acquire new clients by positioning WearCheck and Lubrigard’s full portfolio of products and services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, maintenance managers, reliability engineers, procurement, and operations leadership.
- Actively promote and demonstrate WearCheck’s value-added tools and education programs as part of every client engagement:
◦ ODE (On-line Data Entry) - web-based and mobile app client program engagement tool.
◦ WebCheck Online Platform - drive client adoption for online sample results, program management, and reporting.
◦ Oil Insights Course - promote WearCheck’s customer onboarding journey, oil analysis, and education programs for best-in-class customer lubrication programs.
◦ WearCheck Training (MLT/MLA/OMA/Lube Hero/Oil Insights) - leverage training events to generate leads and increase service to customers.
- Conduct client site visits, technical presentations, and plant lubrication program reviews to demonstrate value and identify opportunities.
- Provide on-site fluid reliability solutions to customers for lubrication storage, dispensing, handling, contamination control, filtration, and best-in-class maintenance practices.
- Collaborate closely with the laboratory, sales/technical services, and customer service teams for seamless client onboarding and program delivery.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records: pipeline activity, account plans, call reports, and forecasts.
- Identify and pursue strategic partnership opportunities with lubricant suppliers, equipment dealers, OEMs, and distributor networks.
- Develop distributor/partner/supplier agreements and performance plans.
- Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events relevant to the target segments.
- Provide market intelligence, competitive insights, and customer feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Meet or exceed assigned sales targets and KPIs on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
“Day in the Life” of the Sales Account Manager - Eastern Canada
A typical week combines in-person client visits, prospecting by phone and video, preparing proposals and presentations, team meetings, and CRM updates. Field travel is core to this role and may be extensive.
2. Knowledge & Experience Requirements
This is not an entry-level position. The successful candidate will bring:
- Minimum 5-7 years of B2B technical sales or business development experience in industrial, reliability, lubrication of rotating equipment, or related technical services sectors.
- Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a field-based, territory-driven role.
- Strong technical knowledge of lubrication, oil analysis, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring services. Industry experience in manufacturing, power generation, heavy equipment, oil & gas, mining, or commercial fleets is highly valued.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling business cases for client stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience promoting or selling software platforms, training programs, or automated-based services is an asset.
- Hunter mentality - independently prospect, build pipeline, close new business, and manage existing accounts.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French (written and verbal) is required and essential for this role given the Eastern Canada territory.
- Strong organizational, time management, and self-management skills; ability to operate independently across a large and diverse territory.
- Proficiency in MS365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and experience with a CRM system (e.g., Zoho, Salesforce, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in using Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools to maximize efficiency and innovation.
- Inquisitive, solutions-oriented, and collaborative mindset with a strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and pride in results.
3. Educational Level
- Post-secondary education in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, preferred), Applied Sciences, or a related technical tribology field is preferred.
- Relevant industry experience and demonstrated technical competency will be considered alongside formal education qualifications.
- ICML certification (MLA I or MLT I) is a strong asset demonstrating the technical credibility this role requires.
- Knowledge of industry standards and testing (ASTM, ISO) in lubricant oil analysis is a preferred asset.
- Additional industry certifications such as STLE CLS (Society of Tribology & Lubrication Engineers Certified Lubrication Specialist) are viewed favourably.
4. Working Conditions & Requirements
- This is a permanent full-time position. The SAM will be field based, ideally residing in Southern Ontario, with regular travel to client sites throughout S. ON., S. PQ, and other provinces in Eastern Canada.
- Frequent territory travel required. Periodic visits to WearCheck’s laboratory and head office for onboarding, training, and team meetings expected.
- You must be legally entitled to live and work in Canada and hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. A reliable personal vehicle is required. Mileage is reimbursed at the CRA rate; other approved business travel expenses are covered per company policy.
- Occasional attendance at industry events, trade shows, or training outside normal business hours.
- Bilingual fluency in English and French is required.
- Occasional work outside standard hours may be required.
