We are currently seeking to add a Project Manager to our Projects North of 60 team.
Position Title: Project Manager
Department: Projects North of 60
Work Location: Yellowknife, NT
Position Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing projects from planning through completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client and regulatory requirements.
This role will focus heavily on environmental remediation and reclamation projects in Canada’s North and requires strong experience in project estimating, cost control, and technical project documentation.
Work Location
This position will primarily support projects in the northern territories and will require travel to North of 60 project sites. Travel uplift, accommodations, and flights are provided or paid for by KBL.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage environmental remediation, reclamation, demolition, civil earthworks, and pipeline-related projects.
- Prepare accurate project estimates, budgets, scopes, and forecasts.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with contracts, drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Monitor project performance related to safety, cost, schedule, productivity, profitability, and QA/QC.
- Manage project costs, forecasting, documentation, progress billings, and change management.
- Prepare and review technical reports, project documentation, and client deliverables.
- Procure and manage subcontractors and suppliers.
- Maintain strong client relationships and communication throughout project execution.
- Provide leadership in safety and mentor site supervisors in field reporting and job costing.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of Project Management experience related to General Construction, Mining, Environmental Remediation/Reclamation, Earthworks, Demolition, or Oil & Gas Construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction project management.
- Post-secondary education in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management or a related program is an asset.
- Experience managing projects in remote or northern environments is a definite asset.
- Strong estimating experience is considered a major asset.
- Technical writing experience, including reports and project documentation, is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
- Ability to travel a definite asset.
Physical Requirements
This role may require a combination of office-based, remote, and on-site work depending on business needs. Employees should be prepared for:
- Extended periods of sitting, standing, or computer use
- Occasional travel to KBL offices, operational sites or client locations
- Exposure to outdoor or industrial environments, including varying weather and terrain
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by safety protocols
