Full job description

Position Overview

Basecamp Motorsports is a powersports dealership specializing in ATV, SXS, and snowmobile sales, service, parts, and rentals. We are seeking an experienced Accountant to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of our organization while leading a small accounting team.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in an operational environment and enjoys balancing strategic financial oversight with execution. The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing month-end and year-end financials, and ensuring strong internal controls across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage a small accounting team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance oversight
Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and supporting schedules
Manage the year-end close process and act as the primary liaison with external accountants and auditors
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal policies
Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and key financial metrics
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Support management with financial analysis and ad hoc reporting as needed

Qualifications & Experience

3–5 years of progressive experience in an accounting or controller-level role
Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a small accounting or finance team
Strong experience preparing year-end financials and working with external accountants
Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and day-to-day financial operations
Experience in a retail, dealership, automotive, or inventory-driven business is considered a strong asset
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel (ERP experience considered an asset)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Education & Credentials

Working toward CPA is considered a strong asset
Equivalent practical experience will be considered in place of formal education
