Job Summary:
The Senior IT Security Analyst plays a critical, hands-on role in protecting the organizations information assets and technology environments. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of enterprise security controls, as well as leading the investigation, response, and remediation of security incidents.
In addition to operational responsibilities, the Senior IT Security Analyst contributes to security architecture decisions, vulnerability management, policy development, and the implementation of new security technologies/protocols. This role requires a strong technical foundation, sound judgment under pressure, and the ability to translate security risk into business-relevant insight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain all enterprise security technologies and controls in alignment with established security standards.
- Analyze security logs, alerts, and reports to identify threats, assess risk, and determine appropriate response & remediation actions.
- Lead investigations into security incidents and suspicious activity, including containment, eradication, root cause analysis, and post-incident reporting.
- Deploy, integrate, and enhance security tools and platforms while recommending improvements to frameworks based on emerging threats and business requirements.
- Perform and support vulnerability assessments, penetration testing activities, and security audits.
- Contribute to the development, maintenance, and enforcement of security policies, standards, procedures, and documentation.
- Collaborate with IT and Business stakeholders on security initiatives, projects, and architecture decisions.
- Provide senior (Tier 3) level escalation and on-call support for security-related issues and incidents.
Qualifications:
- College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in an IT or Cyber Security-focused role.
- Experience operating in a complex, corporate IT environment.
Hands on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls including:
- Firewalls, VPN’s, & SSL proxies.
- Endpoint protection & EDR.
- E-mail & Web Security Gateways
- Anti-virus and content filtering solutions
Strong & demonstrated understanding of:
- Active Directory, Windows Server/Client OS, M365.
- Identity & Access Management (SSO, MFA).
- SIEM Tools, threat detection, & log analysis.
- Secure network design and IP-based security solutions.
Certifications (Not required, but preferred):
- CompTIA+ Security
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
- GIAC Information Security Fundamentals (GISF)
- NESSUS or equivalent vulnerability management certification
Working Conditions / Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Participation in on-call support rotation.
- Primarily office-based role in a professional, corporate environment.
- Occasional overtime as required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Manual dexterity required for use of computers and related equipment.
- Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects (~45lbs) such as computers, POS hardware, and peripherals.
