About Us

Ocean Trailer is Western Canada's Trailer Specialist. With 7 locations: Delta, Mission, Nanaimo, Prince Rupert, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg, we serve Western Canada's trucking industry, and are able to meet all of our customers' trailer needs. We buy, sell, lease, rent, service, and supply parts for commerical trailers.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), to lead Ocean Trailer's Accounting Team at our Head Office in Delta, BC.

Primary Responsibilities

Overseeing full-cycle accounting across multiple entities
Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports under ASPE
Managing intercompany transactions, reconciliations, budgets, and variance analysis
Maintaining cashflow forecasts to support operational and strategic planning
Working closely with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
Ensuring compliance with tax, regulatory, and reporting requirements
Coordinating with external auditors and liaising with CRA on GST and tax matters
Overseeing tax filings for corporations, partnerships, joint ventures, and trusts
Maintaining strong internal controls and accounting policies
Reviewing and approving payroll, taxable benefits, and regulatory filings
Overseeing T4s, T4As, WCB, EHT, and related submissions
Other related duties that may be assigned from time to time

About You

Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline
Designated CPA, required
Experience in a relevant industry, preferred
Proven experience with accounting software, and working knowledge of NetSuite preferred
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and budgeting processes
Excellent account reconciliation and account analysis skills
Ability to interpret financial data and prepare detailed reports for management review
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and external partners
Ability to be courteous and professional with customers and co-workers, while establishing and maintaining solid relationships
Strong team management experience
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to make informed decisions and/or suggestions to improve efficiency
