We are currently seeking a Materials Team Lead to work out of our Belleville, Ontario location.

Through our brands: Hose Technology, Multi-Flow Solutions and Hetronic Canada, we are able to offer solutions to Original Equipment Manufactures, distributors, aftermarket sales and end users. Our reputation was built in fluid conveyance, and this has since extended to fluid power and controls.
Our fluid conveyance offering ranges from end user hose replacements right through to full hydraulic conveyance kitting for some of North America’s largest OEMs. We also offer full hydraulic system servicing, both on site and in our shop. Our engineering department can help with the smallest of requests right up to designing and building large power units. Our drive to sell and service the best brands in the world has established our relationship with Hetronic Radio Remotes, by being Hetronic Canada, our clients can now lean on the UMI Group for support in radio remotes and electrical controls.
The Materials Team Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of material planning, inventory management, procurement, and distribution for the facility. This role ensures the right materials are available at the right time to meet production schedules and customer demand, while optimizing inventory levels and controlling costs. The Materials Team Lead will collaborate closely with production, purchasing, sales, service and external logistics teams to maintain efficient material flow and support business objectives.

Responsibilities:
Inventory & Material Management
- Oversee material storage and warehouse organization to ensure efficient space utilization and compliance with safety standards.
- Conduct cycle counting and investigate variances.
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Collaborate with production and purchasing to develop accurate material forecasts based on demand.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules and customer orders.
- Coordinate with engineering teams for new product introductions and ensure material readiness.
- Work closely within SAP to ensure all production and sales processes are accurately followed and fully compliant.
- Plan and oversee operational logistics of supply-chain work units or departments.
- Consult with production supervisor to schedule production runs in a cost and time-efficient manner.
- Communicate regularly with other production coordinators, warehouse, production, and construction supervisors and purchasing and inventory clerks to coordinate activities between warehouses, production floors, construction sites or other supply chain work units or departments.
- Maintains inventory of materials and parts needed to complete production.
- Prepare and maintain various reports on the progress of work, materials used, rates of production and other production information, using manual or computerized systems.
- Coordinate and monitor logistics of the movement of parts, supplies and materials within an establishment and ensure that supplies, materials and products are shipped and received on schedule
Logistics & Distribution
- Manage shipping and receiving operations to ensure timely and accurate movement of materials.
- Optimize freight costs and coordinate with logistics providers for on-time deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and proper documentation for shipments.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Supervise and mentor warehouse and materials staff, providing training and performance feedback.
- Lead initiatives to improve material flow, reduce waste, and streamline processes.
- Support ERP/MRP system utilization and ensure data accuracy for materials management.
- Implement continuous improvement projects focused on cost savings, efficiency, and lead time reduction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KPIs
- Inventory Accuracy (%) – Measured by cycle counts or full inventory audits.
- Stockout Rate (%) – Frequency of running out of critical materials.
- Production Line Downtime Due to Material Shortage (hours/month) – Measures effectiveness in supporting uninterrupted production.
- Internal Order Fulfillment Rate (%) – How quickly material requests from production are fulfilled.
- Process Improvement Projects Completed – Initiatives completed per quarter/year.
Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of supervisory/managerial experience preferred.
- Ability to manage, organize and plan workloads.
- Previous experience in a production and warehouse setting or similar environment.
- Strong Inventory skills, knowledge of production, and warehouse systems
- Basic computer skills. Such as using word processing software, creating spreadsheets, using printers and other work-related equipment, or looking up information online.
- Ability to delegate job duties and tasks.
- Familiar with the use of power tools, hand trucks, pallet jacks and other necessary production and warehouse equipment.
- Ability to use power lift equipment (forklift, reach truck, etc.)
- Excellent leadership and customer service skills.
- Solid mechanical aptitude, detail oriented, and methodic work ethic.
- Follow safety protocols and all production and warehouse procedures.
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast paced work environment.
- Team player, willing to assist in other departments as required.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Physical stamina, dexterity for type of work, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse environment.
