Data Modeler
Key Requirements
Lead experience in enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Lake platforms
Hands-on experience with Databricks and Spark at scale
Lead modernization of Cloudera platforms (CDH/CDP, Hive, HBase, Impala, Spark) to Databricks Lakehouse
Redesign ingestion, transformation, and consumption patterns from HDFS to cloud object storage and Delta Lake
Refactor Hive/Impala logic into PySpark/Spark SQL ELT pipelines
Ensure data reconciliation, audit integrity, and parity during migration
Design and implement enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Lake/Lakehouse architectures
Implement layered architecture (Raw/Landing, Curated/Conformed, Semantic/Consumption layers)
Modernize traditional EDW to scalable lakehouse architecture
Experience with finance and risk data models including General Ledger, Sub-ledger, financial hierarchies, and risk models
Enable reporting capabilities including aggregation, drill-down, and drill-back
Build semantic and consumption layers for BI, analytics, and reporting
Define business metrics, KPIs, dimensions, and hierarchies
Experience with Databricks SQL, Delta tables, and dbt or similar tools
Develop large-scale data pipelines using PySpark, Spark SQL, and Delta Lake
Implement Medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
Optimize Databricks workloads using techniques such as Z-ORDER, OPTIMIZE, caching, and cluster policies
Implement data quality, reconciliation, and exception handling frameworks
Establish data lineage and metadata management using Unity Catalog
Ensure data security, access control, and compliance
Act as technical authority and lead architecture decisions
Mentor engineers and establish data engineering standards
Required Skills
Expertise in Cloudera platforms (CDH/CDP)
Strong experience in Cloudera to Databricks migration
Deep knowledge of Data Warehousing and Data Lakes
Strong experience in finance and risk data models
Experience building semantic and consumption layers
Expert-level Databricks, PySpark, Spark SQL, and SQL
Experience with cloud platforms AWS or Azure
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Git, Terraform, Jenkins/Azure DevOps)
Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Databricks Workflows)
Experience with dbt is a plus
Strong stakeholder management with Finance, Risk, and Analytics teams
Ability to translate complex data into business outcomes
Good to Have
Experience in BFSI, Capital Markets, or Regulatory Reporting
Exposure to SAP Finance, Oracle Financials, or S/4HANA
Experience supporting AI/ML workloads
Databricks or cloud certifications
Impact

Salary Range: CAD$90,000 - CAD$110,000
