Catholic Social Services is currently seeking Full-time 40 hour position for Community Outreach Housing Coordinator for our Edmonton Katharine Drexel Place. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community.

This position has a weekly schedule of 40 hours, flexible schedule based on the needs of the family, events including evening and weekends. Work Schedule - Tuesday to Saturday 11:00 am - 7:00 pm; Job application closing date: June 9, 2026.

Program Overview
Katharine Drexel Place is an emergency family shelter providing temporary living spaces for families who have lost housing following sudden income loss, illness, injury, or other financial crises. The self-contained units preserve family dignity and autonomy while providing the stability needed to rebuild their lives. Operating on the principles of Alberta's recovery-oriented systems of care, the program wraps comprehensive supports around each family through an integrated network of services.

Job Summary:
As a dedicated housing support worker, primary responsibility is to assist families in identifying housing needs, and working with them to navigate the housing system to secure safe and stable accommodation. In coordination with the larger Shelter team, contribute to an integrated, seamless delivery of services that advocates and supports families to address housing barriers that may prevent securing safe, stable housing.

Supports persons served to build on their strengths and pursue meaningful goals, using a trauma informed, person centered approach that supports insight, reduces barriers, and encourages collaborative problem solving
Develops individualized housing plans with persons served and sets short-term/long-term goals to achievement, providing regular check-ins and intentional conversations
Engages with landlords, property managers, and housing providers to establish working relationships and maintain knowledge of housing opportunities
Supports with completing housing applications, lease signings, and other necessary documentation
Accompanies persons served on viewings (when required) and advocates on their behalf with private and public housing providers
Facilitates training and provides coaching on housing search tools, sustainability such as tenancy rights and responsibilities, budgeting, and household management
Supports in acquiring necessary start-up items (e.g., furniture, utilities).
Serves as a resource for persons served and Shelter staff
Performs other related duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives

What This Job Requires:

Minimum 2-year Diploma/Degree in Human Services (or equivalent).
Minimum of 2 years’ related professional experience.
Degree in A Social Work discipline would be an asset.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
The ideal candidate will have an organized and compassionate approach to the work, strong teamwork skills, a commitment to developing positive supporting relationships, and experience supporting families.

Other qualifications include:

Knowledge of the impact of homelessness on families and barriers to accessing and maintaining housing.
Knowledge of the tenancy act and of landlord and tenant rights and responsibilities.
Awareness of and sensitivity towards those with diverse needs and understanding trauma and implementing practices that provide cultural safety, choice, and empowerment.
Proven ability to provide effective communication, collaboration, crisis intervention, and conflict management with clients.
Demonstrated assessment, problem solving, critical thinking skills and appropriate judgment skills
Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, practice standards, and practice guidelines
Intermediate competency with Microsoft Office and other Agency computer applications.
Demonstrated ability to act with professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy.
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team as well as independently with minimal supervision
Proven case documentation and effective information reporting practices.
A reliable Vehicle, Valid Driver’s License (held for a minimum of 2 years), Vehicle Registration and Third Party Liability Insurance (amount of two million).
Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, and Intervention Record Check current within six (6) months.
Summary of driving record with no more than six (6) demerit points current within one (1) year.
