The PRIDE Seeds Plant, Field & Shipping Assistant conditions seed according to government regulations as well as minimizes clean-out of products by adhering to company and government quality standards. Assists with warehouse, seed corn inspections and harvest activities related to seed corn and seed soybean production. Assists where necessary seed corn harvesting, which includes shelling, sorting room coordination and monitoring of the drying process at seed drying facilities.
Reports to Operations Supervisor and Manager, Field Production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plant/Conditioning:
- Bag / package seed as per corporate protocol and internal bagging contracts. (Using correct schematic screens for the cleaning/sizing equipment as per the processing contract.) Make certain that all bagging-related paperwork is processed in detail and that all the information coincides with the actual nature of the bagged product. Forward all paperwork to Inventory Quality Controller.
- Perform scale verifications to verify the functionality of processing equipment.
- Randomly sample seed at various levels of the conditioning process (at receiving pit, at cleaning, at sizing, at final clean, at treating, etc.) to ensure government quality standards and purity levels are adhered too.
- Thoroughly clean all processing equipment, elevation legs, pits, floors, bins etc. between processing of various commodities and varieties to ensure purity.
- Adhere to company safety, quality & dust mitigation standards as outlined in the provided orientation/QA manual.
- Document all pertinent information on purity and quality documents. Immediately inform Conditioning Supervisor or Inventory Quality Controller of non-compliance of product quality.
- Advise Conditioning Supervisor if machinery or equipment requires maintenance.
Field/Harvest Assistant:
- Assist with seed corn inspections, including documentation and entry of data into pertinent software.
- Assists with seed corn harvest activities such as receiving, drying, shelling and bulk storage following all company procedures as outlined in the QA Manual.
- Records all necessary data pertaining to the job.
- Works closely with all staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
- Collaborates with other staff members on the completion of tasks.
General:
- Project a positive image of AgReliant Genetics and act as a role model for Company Core Values.
- Duties may be amended by the Company as may be reasonably required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or Current Student.
- Experience in compliance with CSGA, CFIA and AWSA preferred.
KNOWLEDE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Valid Driver’s Licence and clean driving record.
- Forklift License required or ability to achieve.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to work required hours, including overtime and shifts.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform heavy physical labour.
- Ability to work in varying climates and conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, and dust.
- Ability to handle pesticides.
