Intermediate Fire Protection & Life Safety Consultant

Key Responsibilities

Provide building code consulting services across all phases of design and construction

Interpret and apply applicable building codes, bylaws, and related standards

Develop and document code compliance strategies for complex buildings and mixed-use developments

Review architectural and engineering drawings for code compliance

Prepare written reports, code summaries, and formal correspondence

Participate in meetings with clients, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction

Conduct site visits and field reviews to support compliance during construction

Collaborate closely with internal fire protection and life safety specialists

Build and maintain strong client and industry relationships

Education, Skills, and Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in architecture, Engineering, or post-secondary education with equivalent experience in a related field
(Environmental Design, Architectural Technology, or similar)

Experience

4+ years of experience in a Building Code or Fire Protection consulting role

Current knowledge of building codes and related standards

Experience engaging with AEC project teams throughout design and construction

Experience developing and maintaining working relationships with clients and industry professionals in both public and private sectors

Technical Skills

Proficiency with CAD

Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and documentation

Strong attention to detail with a practical, solutions-focused approach

Professional Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational and time-management abilities

Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

High standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity

A genuine drive to contribute to better buildings and safer communities

Additional Requirements

Ability to travel for meetings and site visits

As an Intermediate Fire Protection & Life Safety Consultant, you will play a key client-facing role, supporting architects, developers, engineers, and authorities having jurisdiction throughout all stages of design and construction.

You will apply your strong understanding of building codes and standards to develop clear, practical compliance strategies for complex projects, while building strong working relationships across multidisciplinary teams. This role is based in our Vancouver office, with a hybrid work model that balances in-office collaboration with flexibility.
