'We are seeking a talented Software Developer to join our innovative team in Wallaceburg. This role is vital in developing software solutions that enhance our manufacturing processes and support our commitment to excellence. The successful candidate will be based in Wallaceburg and contribute to our mission of delivering top-tier tooling solutions.
Software Developer – Epicor Preferred
YOUR ROLE:
As a developer in this role, your primary focus will be programming and software development, with a strong preference for applying those skills within the Epicor Kinetic ERP environment.
This role requires a strong blend of:
- Technical expertise
- Business process understanding
- Problem-solving capability
You will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting business systems, with programming expertise coming first and Epicor experience considered highly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & COMPETENCIES:
Epicor Customization & Development
Develop and maintain Epicor customizations using:
◦ Application Studio (UI enhancements and screen modifications)
◦ BPMs (Pre/Base/Post processing for business logic and automation)
◦ C# within BPMs for advanced logic
- Create and manage Epicor Functions for reusable business processes
- Extend Epicor data structures using User Defined Tables and fields
Reporting, Data & Integration
- Design, optimize, and maintain complex BAQs (including calculated fields and subqueries)
- Develop dashboards and data visualizations to improve operational visibility
- Design and maintain reports using SSRS and Epicor tools
- Manage data migration and transformation using DMT, SQL, and APIs
System Support & Optimization
- Troubleshoot and resolve ERP-related issues across departments
- Support ERP upgrades, testing, and deployment
- Monitor and maintain system performance, stability, and backups
- Implement automation and process improvements to increase efficiency
Business Collaboration & Governance
- Translate business requirements into technical ERP solutions
- Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, finance, and operations
- Provide user training and technical guidance
- Maintain system documentation to support audit, compliance, and governance
TECHNICAL SKILLS & BEST PRACTICES
Core Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in core programming and development tools, including:
◦ C# / .NET
◦ SQL Server / T-SQL
- Epicor Kinetic development experience is highly preferred
Epicor Development Expertise
- BPMs and Epicor Functions (server-side logic)
- Application Studio (UI customization)
- BAQs, dashboards, and reporting
- DMT and data migration tools
- Epicor REST API integrations
Best Practices & Troubleshooting
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using:
◦ Epicor tracing and system tools
◦ Browser developer tools (F12, debugging consoles)
Ability to maintain proper separation between:
◦ UI logic (client-side)
◦ Business logic (server-side BPMs)
- Focus on system integrity, maintainability, and scalability
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years of progressive IT development experience
- 3+ years working with ERP systems
- Experience with Epicor Kinetic or Epicor 10 is strongly preferred
- Strong programming background in C# and SQL
- Proven ability to support and enhance ERP systems in a business environment
- Experience in manufacturing or engineering environments preferred
