Full job description

AMHS is currently looking for Mechanical Installers and Red Seal Millwrights and; Millwright Apprentices; This role is a full-time permanent position.

Job Purpose: A key participant in the relationship with the company, and other contractors on site; the Millwright has a further role as ensuring the quality of the parts and material they are using to install.

Duties and Responsibilities

Understand the Scope of Work in collaboration with the AMHS Site Supervisor and AMHS Foremen as passed down by the AMHS Project Manager.
Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
Perform routine maintenance work on all machinery
Identify and troubleshoot machine irregularities and breakdowns
Repair or replace defective machine parts and equipment.
Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment
Install, align, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to plan layouts
Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment
Work on team oriented, high paced projects at various customer sites
Recognize, address, and resolve issues/problems between assigned team members.
Maintain work standards and behavioural expectations set by the AMHS Site Supervisor to ensure that other team members morale and productivity meet standards.
Apply the principles of workplace respect on site.
Ensure assigned tasks are performed in compliance with Customer and Axiom policies and procedures.
Participating in safety and hazard investigations.
Periodically reassessing daily goals to meet forecasted production

Quality Control:

On-site assessment before commencing work to ensure that the job site is ready.
Escalate the concerns to the AMHS Site Supervisor and/or Foremen and address any concerns in a diplomatic manner.
Participate in the execution of the work, including quality and production, ensuring that assigned tasks are following job specifications and follows the plans.
Inspecting and measuring completed work.

Skills/Qualifications:

Ø Experience working on construction sites for commercial, industrial and/or residential projects.

Ø Technical diploma in a construction-related field or equivalent are an asset but not required.

Ø Millwright Apprenticeship or Journeyman Certification are an asset but not required.

Ø Participate as a team member on a team or lead a team.

Ø Effectively communicate orally and in writing with good comprehension.

Ø Apply good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Qualifications:

Ø Completion of a recognized apprenticeship, a Certificate of Apprenticeship an asset.

Ø Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Ø Ability to travel for work within Canada.

Ø Welding & fabrication experience will be an asset; Stainless steel TIG or CWB Stick

Ø A self-starter and a proven team player.

Ø Strong work ethic and a problem solver.

Ø Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Ø Flexible to work any shift structures assigned, weekends, overtime and off shift work.
