Full job description

Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Maintenance/Construction Cleaning Supervisor to lead our site cleaning and general maintenance operations. You'll oversee a small crew, coordinate daily tasks, and ensure job sites are clean, safe, and inspection-ready. This role suits someone who can work independently, manage others effectively, and maintain high standards under tight timelines.

Duties

Supervision & Coordination
Lead, schedule, and direct cleaning and labourer staff across active construction sites

Site Maintenance & Cleaning Oversight

Ensure thorough cleaning of construction areas, including debris removal, sweeping, and waste disposal
Inspect completed work for quality and compliance with site standards
Coordinate material and equipment needs; manage inventory of cleaning supplies and tools
Oversee setup and teardown of temporary structures, barriers, and signage

Health & Safety

Enforce all health and safety regulations on site
Conduct regular safety checks and address hazards immediately
Maintain documentation of incidents, inspections, and corrective actions
Ensure crew members use proper PPE at all times

General Support

Assist with hands-on cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed
Liaise with other trades and contractors to minimize disruption
Adapt priorities based on project timelines and site conditions
Conduct daily briefings, assign tasks, and monitor work quality
Train new team members on procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols
Report progress and issues to site managers and project leads

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance, or industrial cleaning
Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and manage a team
Working knowledge of construction site safety standards and regulations
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize under pressure
Excellent verbal and written communication
Physically capable of performing labour tasks alongside crew members
Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
First Aid/CPR certification an asset
WHMIS certification an asset
