WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Active Directory Services, this role is responsible to assess, research, analyze business and technical security infrastructure requirements in order to support and resolve systems issues within the RBC supported Active Directory technology solution.
This role partners across T&O projects and technical teams, business partners and external vendors.
Responsible for Application and technical system support within the Active Directory team with a goal of being recognized as a “best in class" service provider and partner of choice for all stakeholder groups.
- Planning, Delivery & Execution - Ensure effective internal controls are executed by team. Own quality, quantity, and timeliness of team service delivery.
- Change Enablement - Partner with Senior Manager or Director to execute the overall change strategy for the team.
- Relationships & Communication - Contact for BAU and project interactions for the team. Provide point of escalation and resolution for incidents and project related issues.
- Managerial Excellence - Guide, coach, and mentor junior team to drive optimal performance from team members.
Primary responsibilities is to support RBC’s Active Directory Infrastructure globally. All responsibilities carried out in accordance with Code of Conduct, RBC Values and Guiding Principles.
EXECUTION AND OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Manages the detail aspects of day-to-day business operations for the supported products and applications.

Effectively communicates and builds rapport within the team members, stakeholders, partners and vendors using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.

Facilitates small to large group meetings for technical design, decision making, and problem solving and task implementation.

Prepares and delivers presentations to business and technology partners and senior management, selecting the appropriate approach based on the audience.

Resolves conflicts/issues and escalates others as appropriate

Investigate urgent issues and escalate requests accordingly ensuring a valid business reason is provided

Participate in meetings with support partners for changes to process and procedures and manage the knowledge base accordingly.

Identify, introduce, and implement opportunities to streamline processes.

Ensure processes are accurate and current by reporting on gaps and informing team members, leads and Management of changes or update to processes; ensure appropriate updates are made to associated documentation

Work to build strong relationships within own team.

Continually enhances skills and builds knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems. Performs database/disaster recovery for entire system in different situations.

Performs performance tuning to improve performance over multiple functions.

Provides on-call support of applications, servers for Severity 1 or 2 Incidents
PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES
-
Provides consulting services on new initiatives (small to large of varying complexity).

Assesses, researches and analyzes business and system needs, exploring alternative options to recommend technology solutions and designs that meet sponsor needs and deliverables.

Leads high level and detailed technical specifications for small to medium projects in accordance with security and architecture documentation objectives, identifying and tracking technical issues

Together with Project Manager, determines best mix of development, interfacing applications, third party vendor solutions to meet business requirements and project objectives.

Contributes to successful project completion by identifying risks and developing/recommending mitigation strategies.

Develops criteria for and participates in the evaluation of 3rd party vendors and software as well as due diligence exercises.

Organizes and participates in walkthrough reviews of all technical specifications, programs and unit test plans.

Develops detailed plans and accurate estimates for completion of build, system testing and implementation phases of project.

Develops master distribution lists, implementation and contingency plans ensuring verification is performed.

Manages joint development, testing and plans and co-ordinates implementations.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
-
5 or more years of experience in a technical role including sound knowledge of RBC technical computer platforms.

University or College Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required

ITIL v3: Foundations, Operational Support & Analysis

Technical Certification in an IT area

Strong technical writing aptitude

Strong written and verbal communications skills

Strong ability to manage client and stakeholder relations

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities

Strong sense of urgency and the ability to shift tasks in high pressure environment

Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policies, Networking, Powershell. Microsoft Windows Servers.
- Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience of Windows 2008, 2012 and 2016 operating systems platforms, DNS, networks, DMZs, firewalls, network security zones and IPv6 .

Deep, in-depth working knowledge of Kerberos (Microsoft) and NTLM authentication, SSO and federation technologies (hands-on experience)

Extensive and deep knowledge of Group Policy Objects (GPOs), engineering, implementing and 3rd party management solutions, including GPP, ADMX, ADML.

Strong knowledge of LDAP and ability to comfortably construct queries. Overarching broad and deep technical experience with Active Directory Security

Hands-on experience with LDS, LDAP, SPN, IP Addressing, and AD replications.

On-call 24/7 rotation.
