Full job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Taking direction from the foreman or lead hand, this position is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of equipment and daily maintenance checks. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include:

Telehandlers
Mini Excavators
Skid Steer
Loaders
Forklift
And other pieces of equipment

The Heavy Equipment Operator must also inspect, clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies, and procedures.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Safety Leadership & Compliance

Review, understand and follow site access plans using electronic mapping.
Ensuring safety and quality is at the forefront of every task
Take part in Forbes Bros. safety reporting procedures around good catch near miss and take 2 entries
Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required
Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
Advise the Public Works Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
Participate in routine maintenance
Practice workplace safety
Ensuring documentation for equipment is up to date as per daily check

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

Class 5 license, class 3 license with air brakes considered asset
Operators certificate from a licensed service provider
Experience with the following equipment considered an asset;
LoDril
Texoma
3 to 5 years’ experience on heavy equipment: excavators, crawler tractors, loaders

Additional Details

This position requires candidates to:

Have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract
Successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
Work on transmission line projects throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta, with an initial assignment in Regina, SK followed by Edmonton, AB
Work a project-based rotation schedule, initially anticipated to be 21 days on / 7 days off
Eligible for $200/day LOA where applicable while working away from home.
Be willing to travel and relocate to project sites as required

Pay: $40.00-$46.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
