Reporting to the Manager, Capital PMO, the incumbent will play a key role in the growth of a complex semiconductor crystal growth and device fabrication facility to improve production capability, capacity, and efficiencies. The successful candidate will have a strong project engineering background in equipment used in production processes, process automation and electro-mechanical equipment and a desire to spend time on the production floor working with stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage capital, facility, and equipment projects from concept through to commissioning
- Define specifications for installation, testing and commissioning of new equipment and adaptations
- Define modifications, system requirements for new and existing machinery and equipment for manufacturing production
- Prepare Engineering and Construction Work Packages
- Source and purchase new equipment, components, processes, systems, etc. for improved efficiencies in production and the operation of the facility.
- Schedule, install and commission equipment and processes following verification and validation procedures
- Manage contractors and support staff during installation and commissioning.
- Liaise with consultant professionals – engineers, architects, etc.
- Provide follow-up of design and development projects by training and guiding technicians
- In collaboration with the Manager, Capital PMO, provide business cases, establish and maintain project budgets
- Establish maintenance and repair services for new equipment and processes; follow manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special service as required
- Conduct process design reviews and recommend modifications including conducting and documenting Hazard Risk Assessments for facilities and internal customers
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
- Provide technical support for plant layouts, facility improvements, purchase of equipment, upgrade of equipment, feasibility studies.
Experience
- Five or more years, including a minimum of 3 years end to end project management experience in one of the following industries:
- Semiconductor manufacturing (processing, fabrication, assembly/packaging)
- Electrical and Electronics manufacturing industry
- Material Processing or other high-volume manufacturing, or
- Demonstrated hands-on experience a relevant manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of environmental, safety and quality standards (ISO)
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget
- Prior experience implementing Lean Manufacturing (5S, Kanban, 6 Sigma, etc) is an asset
- AutoCAD, DraftSight and/or SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling program, or
- Revit or equivalent BIM
- Project management tools and processes
- MS Office (email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Skills/Additional Preferred requirements:
- Strong project management
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Excellent problem solving, innovation and trouble shooting
- Excellent communications and influential leadership including liaising with external contractors and internal stakeholders
- A solid understanding of manufacturing processes and/or construction processes
- A positive attitude and self-motivation
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Licensing: Must be currently registered with, or be eligible to register with, EGBC as an EIT or P.Eng.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar project management designation is a strong asset
Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000 CAD

The salary range posted above reflects the minimum and maximum for new hire salaries, taking into account factors such as job-related skills and expertise, relevant training and education, and business needs. It is common for ranges to span multiple levels in order to attract top talent across experience levels. It is uncommon to be hired at the top of the range; however, in exceptional cases where a candidate's skills and expertise significantly exceed the role's requirements, we may consider offering a higher salary.
