Full job description

We are currently recruiting for a private female employer who needs a fragrant-free care aide to assist with all activities of daily living.

She enjoys a variety of different activities including music, dance, film and playing cozy video games. This employer is interested in sociology , vintage fashion and architecture and design.

The ideal candidate will need to be scent free including no perfumes, scented deodorants, scent free laundry detergent and personal care items as well as no smoking or vaping of any kind.

They will also need to be able to communicate competently in English, oral and written form.

Location:

Victoria (near Pioneer Square)

Shifts:

Monday through Friday:
11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
9:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Optional for 11:30am to 6:30pm as part of a split shift
Saturday:
11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
9:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Optional for 11:30am to 6:30pm as part of a split shift
Sunday:
11:30 a.m. 4:30 to p.m.
9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Optional for 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. employee as part of a split shift

Responsibilities:

Personal care (including but not limited to): showering, bathing, grooming, dermatological and eye care routines, oral hygiene, dressing, putting on AFOs
Stand-by assist for physical transfers
Meal preparation and cueing for eating and drinking
Housekeeping/Cleaning (including but not limited to): Kitchen: clean up after every meal; wash dishes; wipe counters and stove; load, run and unload dishwasher; scrub kitchen sink; Bathroom: clean bath/shower/sink/toilet to maintain sanitation, vacuum and mop floors for allergy management; Laundry and Linens: wash, fold and put away clothes and towels; change bed sheets; Take out garbage/recycling; Dust open surfaces; Check wheelchair tire pressure and pump tires
Medication administration, including applying prescriptions ointments, and monitoring prescriptions
Assistance getting to medical appointment and physio as well as running the occasional errands

Wages:

Training rate: $25.00 per hour
Wage after training: $27.40 per hour

Required Qualifications:

New HCA graduates welcome
Must be comfortable working in an environment with cats
Safe and Good Cooking skills required
Must be able to communicate competently in English, in oral and written form, and understand written and oral instructions Required
Comfortable doing a Criminal Record Check
Must exercise high standards of sanitation before personal care tasks and handling food
Must respect Employer’s gluten-free, smoke-free, and low/no scent environment (avoid use of scented personal care products and clothing laundered in scented detergents)
Must provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations for Covid-19 and influenza
Desire to be scent-free (no perfumes, scented deodorants, scent free laundry detergent and personal care items)
Prior experience an asset but not required; training available
Class 5 driver’s license and comfortable driving the client is an asset but not required
