Description of the Position
We are seeking a highly analytical, systems-focused and naturally curious professional to join our People & Culture team as an Analyst, People Systems & Payroll. This role is responsible for the administration, optimization and subject matter expertise of the organization’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS), while ensuring accurate and compliant payroll operations.
Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards & People Analytics, the Analyst will play a critical role in advancing workforce analytics capabilities by transforming people data into meaningful insights that support operational and strategic decision-making across the organization.
This position is ideal for someone who combines strong technical HRIS expertise with advanced analytical skills, a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for leveraging workforce data, AI and emerging technologies to improve organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
HRIS Administration & Subject Matter Expertise
- Serve as the organization’s primary subject matter expert (SME) for the HRIS platform, including system functionality, workflows, reporting capabilities, and integrations.
- Administer, configure, and optimize HRIS workflows, business rules, security roles, and system settings.
- Lead HRIS troubleshooting activities and coordinate issue resolution with external vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Manage system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new HRIS modules, features and releases (UKG experience considered an asset but not required).
- Maintain system integrity through ongoing monitoring, data validation, and configuration management.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of the HRIS to identify opportunities to enhance system functionality, improve automation, and optimize the user experience.
- Develop and maintain HRIS documentation, process maps, and system governance standards.
- Work closely with BIIT and P&C Team to identify and develop proprietary HRIS solutions, workflows, and system functionality improvements.
People Analytics & Workforce Insights
- Lead the development and deployment of workforce analytics, dashboards, and people reporting solutions that support strategic decision-making.
- Analyze complex people data to identify trends, patterns, risks and opportunities related to workforce planning, turnover, compensation, engagement and other key metrics.
- Design and maintain executive-level dashboards and reporting frameworks within HRIS and reporting platforms such as UKG People Analytics and IBM Cognos.
- Partner with People & Culture leadership to develop meaningful workforce KPIs and analytics strategies.
- Translate workforce data into actionable insights and recommendations for leaders across the organization.
- Support predictive and trend-based workforce analysis to strengthen organizational planning and talent strategies.
- Drive automation and continuous improvement of recurring workforce reporting processes.
- Explore and leverage AI tools, automation technologies and emerging digital solutions to enhance reporting capabilities, streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency across People & Culture functions.
Payroll Administration & Compliance
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule across all pay cycles.
- Review, validate and reconcile payroll inputs to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, policies and internal controls.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and system-related payroll issues.
- Support year-end payroll activities, audits and payroll reporting requirements.
- Maintain payroll-related documentation, controls and reporting processes.
Data Governance & Reporting Integrity
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity and governance of workforce and payroll data within the HRIS environment.
- Develop standards for reporting logic, data definitions, and reporting consistency across the organization.
- Validate and reconcile workforce data used in reports and dashboards.
- Support organization-wide reporting requests by extracting, analyzing, and interpreting workforce data.
- Recommend improvements to data structures, reporting methodologies and system processes.
Qualifications
While we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics or a related discipline.
- Progressive experience in HRIS administration, payroll processing, workforce reporting, and people analytics.
- Experience working with complex HRIS platforms such as UKG or similar enterprise systems.
- Experience designing dashboards, reports and analytics solutions using HRIS reporting tools, Power BI, Excel, or related platforms; IBM Cognos experience will be considered a strong asset.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and present workforce data effectively.
- Strong expertise in HRIS systems administration, configuration, and optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to develop workforce dashboards, analytics frameworks, and data-driven insights.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, payroll legislation, remittances and compliance requirements.
- Curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset with a passion for exploring innovative solutions and emerging technologies.
- Knowledge and practical application of AI tools, automation technologies and digital solutions that improve efficiency, reporting and business processes.
- Ability to identify opportunities to automate manual workflows and enhance operational effectiveness through technology.
- Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or working toward completion is considered an asset.
- Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical payroll and reporting deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate technical data into meaningful business insights.
- High level of discretion and ability to manage confidential employee information.

Total Compensation Package
Expected Hiring Salary Range: $70,056- $82,418; with the ability to progress to a maximum of $98,902 with demonstrated experience and proficiency. To ensure fair and equitable pay at SickKids Foundation, placement on the salary range will be based on your years of experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the Analyst, People Systems and Analytics.
