The Prostate Cancer Centre (PCC) is a Calgary based non-profit dedicated to the end-to-end support of Alberta individuals and their families facing prostate cancer. PCC is committed to saving lives by focusing on early detection, providing rapid access to pre and post treatment care, psychosocial services; and leading in prostate cancer research.
The Marketing and Communications Lead will help lead the development and implementation of awareness and fundraising campaigns. This role also involves internal and external communication and being able to write effectively for a wide variety of audiences and will also support with the coordination of tasks across the team to complete projects.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
About the Position
The ideal candidate will demonstrate reliability by consistently meeting deadlines, maintaining open communication with team members, taking accountability for their work, following through on commitments, showing attention to detail, and proactively taking initiative to identify and implement improvements in their work.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing and Communications: 60%
- Collaborate with the Fund Development Team and other internal PCC teams to coordinate and implement the marketing and communications for general awareness, fundraising campaigns and events.
- Assist with the design, content, and production of materials across all platforms, including but not limited to website, Intranet, and physical print materials.
- Write and review newsletters, blog articles, mass emails, reports, patient stories, and other materials.
- Lead the preparation of marketing activity reports by analyzing analytics.
- Create and assist with the implementation of an organization-wide social media strategy
- Ensure adherence to logo usage, brand standards, writing guidelines, and other protocols, maintaining cohesiveness PCC branding across all projects and campaigns.
- Maintain the PCC website and Intranet
- Utilize software for digital marketing while actively seeking out learning opportunities for professional growth.
Fund Development: 10%
- Increase revenue by developing and implementing sponsorship initiatives with new and existing partners.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals for sponsorship requests and stewardship reports.
Leadership: 15%
- Provide mentorship and insights to other members on the Fund Development Team.
Other: 15%
- Attend an annual RAC 2 information session.
- Participate in team-building and fundraising events.
- Complete general office duties as assigned.

Education:
- Communications, marketing, or nonprofit management degree is required.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in communications, project management, and/or marketing.
- Experience in a non-profit setting is considered an asset.
Knowledge & Skills:
General
- Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication in English, with the ability to present concepts effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with team members.
- Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic environment and respond effectively to changing priorities and demands.
- Proficiency in project management to effectively oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Exhibits a growth mindset through self-motivation, eagerness to learn, and commitment to continuous improvement, while proactively taking responsibility for tasks and outcomes.
- A high level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills are required.
Technical
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
- Familiarity with Adobe (Pro, InDesign, and Photoshop) is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook, as Wordpress is required.
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Notion, Loop, Asana) is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with various software platforms, including experience with CRM systems and social media management tools.
