Life Gears Academy is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating meaningful learning experiences for children and youth through STEM, outdoor exploration, creativity, and community engagement. Our camps combine hands-on learning with leadership development, environmental awareness, teamwork, and inclusive programming to help campers build confidence, curiosity, and real-world skills.

Camp Schedule
Life Gears Academy Summer Camp runs from July 6th to August 14th and features a different exciting STEM-themed experience each week for campers to explore, create, and learn through hands-on activities.
Week 1, “Crafts and Games” (July 6–10), focuses on creativity, teamwork, and interactive challenges through art, games, and group activities.
Week 2, “Young Engineers” (July 13–17), encourages campers to build, design, and problem-solve through engaging engineering challenges and STEM projects.
During Week 3, “Chem Friends” (July 20–24), campers explore chemistry through safe and exciting science experiments and hands-on discoveries.
Week 4, “Nature Lovers” (July 27–31), connects campers with the outdoors through environmental exploration, nature activities, and outdoor learning experiences. Our short
Week 5, “STEAM Team” (August 4–7), combines science, technology, engineering, arts, and math into collaborative and creative projects.
Finally, Week 6, “Magic STEM” (August 10–14), brings science to life through illusions, experiments, and engaging STEM demonstrations that show campers the “magic” behind how things work.
Each week is designed to create a fun, inclusive, and memorable experience where campers can build confidence, friendships, creativity, and curiosity. Camp runs from 9 am to 4 pm with extended hours from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Schedule is flexible to allow volunteers to join for multiple weeks, specific days, or even set hours on certain days. There are always have things to do and all help is appreciated!
Camp Volunteer Role Expectations
Volunteers are expected to:
- Take initiative throughout the day to complete daily tasks like setting up or taking down the room
- Support campers during activities and transitions
- Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment
- Engage with campers and encourage participation
- Assist with setup, cleanup, and organization
- Work collaboratively with camp leaders and staff
Volunteers help:
- Encourage teamwork and inclusion
- Support campers who may feel left out
- Maintain positive behaviour expectations
- Ensure camper safety during activities and transitions
- Foster a fun and respectful camp environment
Volunteers are responsible for:
- Supervising campers during activities and transitions
- Assisting with head counts and washroom supervision
- Supporting food safety and allergy awareness
- Following camp rules, procedures, and staff direction
- Maintaining professional boundaries with campers
Qualifications & Ideal Candidates
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable

- Comfortable working in active indoor and outdoor environments
- Strong communicators and team players
- Interested in STEM, education, recreation, or child and youth programming
- Passionate about creating supportive and engaging experiences for children
Preferred Experience
Experience is helpful but not required. Training and support will be provided. Preferred backgrounds include:
- Being familiar with camps as a camper
- Childcare or babysitting
- Tutoring or teaching
- Recreation leadership
- Volunteer work with children
- STEM or educational programming
