TDE is seeking an Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Manager to join the operations in Edmonton, AB.
Position Summary: The role of the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Manager is to lead a group of in-house electrical, instrumentation and controls technologists / engineers in the timely and accurate completion of EIC engineering, design, deliverables as well as purchasing, shop and start up support needs for TDE manufactured of oil & gas processing equipment
Duties & Responsibilities:

- TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver high-quality engineering work that meets all safety, regulatory, and industry standards while driving technical excellence within the team.
- Lead the design and development of complex electrical systems, including power distribution networks, lighting layouts, motor controls, instrumentation, and automation systems.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed electrical layouts, cable tray designs, 3D models, and fabrication drawings to support modular construction and shop production.
- Perform and verify advanced electrical analyses such as short circuit, coordination, arc flash, grounding, harmonic, and load flow studies to ensure performance, reliability, and operational safety.
- Design and guide the integration of low and medium voltage systems, including switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and variable frequency drives.
- Manage the selection and procurement of electrical materials and major equipment, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, client specifications, and budget targets.
- Prepare and review comprehensive documentation — from single-line diagrams (SLDs) and cable schedules to hazardous area classifications and Certificates of Compliance — ensuring accuracy and traceability.
- Lead interdisciplinary coordination with other engineering groups, fabrication teams, and construction personnel for seamless project delivery from concept through commissioning.
- Provide technical mentorship and performance guidance to engineers and technologists, cultivating a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and professional certification readiness (e.g., P.Eng., P.L.(Eng.), EIT development).
- Conduct technical reviews and approve engineering deliverables for authenticity and quality in alignment with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), site inspections, and commissioning activities, ensuring all testing and documentation align with client expectations and project timelines.
- Actively identify opportunities for innovation, process optimization, and the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance TDE’s engineering capabilities.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives by refining departmental procedures, templates, and technical standards to ensure efficiency, consistency, and best-in-class project execution.
Qualifications
- 8 to 15+ years of experience in a related industry with a strong emphasis on fabrication of modularized packages in oil and gas industry.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent degree is required.
- Professional designation as P.L.(Eng.) or P.Eng. with APEGA in good standing is required.
- Experience with engineering tools including ETAP and CAD.
- Thorough understanding of CSA, NEC, IEEE, IEC, API, ATEX, and NFPA standards, Recommended Directives and relevant construction codes.
- Demonstrate proficient knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
- Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize activities, adapt to change, and stay focused in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, Teams, and Bluebeam Revu.
