HOURS OF WORK:
The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a member of the Eating Disorders Prevention Team, the responsibilities of the Eating Disorder Prevention Specialist include facilitating/performing health promotion, wellness education, prevention service delivery planning and implementation activities. Further responsibilities include participating in skills and capacity building activities; participating in local and provincial engagement activities across multiple sectors, participating in research and evaluation activities; providing consumer-oriented eating disorder information and reference material within the community using print and electronic resources; participating in academic forums.
This position is in partnership with Eating Disorders Ontario – Prevention (EDO-P), however employment is with the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) as the host organization for EDO-P in Ontario Health East.
This role supports East Region, specific sub region to be determined by East Region Team needs and may be adjusted to support program growth. Recruitment is for candidates residing in the Durham, City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton, Peterborough, Northumberland, Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox & Addington, Frontenac, Kingston, Leeds Grenville, Lanark, Renfrew, Ottawa Carleton, Prescott Russell and Stormont Dundas Glengarry. Sub Region location to be determined based on the successful candidate. This is a hybrid work-from-home position and includes regular travel throughout determined sub region required. Bilingual with proficiency in French/English communication speaking, reading, and writing required.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

Completion of a bachelor’s degree (i.e. BSW, BScN)

Member in good standing of a regulated health or social service college in Ontario (i.e. OCSWSSW, CRPO, CNO, COTO)

A valid driver’s license, with access to transportation is required.

Ability to travel throughout an assigned region and work some irregular hours when needed.
WHO YOU ARE:
-
Bilingual with proficiency in French/English communication speaking, reading, and writing required.
-
Minimum of two years of experience in a mental health setting with a focus on children and youth
-
Psychotherapy qualifications (within their professional scope of practice), community development and/or public health experience preferred.

Experience required in health promotion, health education, or child/youth education,
-
Experience working with anxiety disorders, depression, past trauma or eating disorders or motivational enhancement.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple groups and stakeholders.

Excellent organizational, time management and critical thinking skills.

Facilitation skills and ability to drive consensus across different sectors (clinical, professional, educator, and various community groups), both in-person and virtually

Knowledge and experience of health promotion, population health, community development principles, and the health determinants required.

Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, making the best use of own skills and expertise and those of colleagues is required.

Ability to work collaboratively with other program staff and community practitioners to provide activities, programs and services required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required in a thorough, clear, and timely manner.

Ability to demonstrate respect for the innate strengths of individuals and communities required.

Demonstrates an awareness and understanding of specific communities and a response to their needs required.

Understanding/knowledge of conventional/alternative health practices and how these practices may relate to health and wellness and cultural diversity are required.
